BREAKING NEWS:
Britain was hit hard by a major Luftwaffe air assault today.
In a stunning blow, preliminary reports suggest the forces of the RAF lost 3 heavy cruisers, port facilities at 4 key locations were rendered inoperable, and a gaping hole was torn through the chain radar system, long purported to be a key defensive element along the coast line.
The LW battled severe flak over the fleets, strong defense by the RAF, and even sharks as they struggled to break down the defensive wall along the coast and open up the region for deeper assaults.

The RAF is anticipating heavy assaults in the immediate future. Strong indications are that the assaults will focus on the RAF ability to launch aircraft and repel the attackers. At this time, both forces are calling for all able bodied pilots to join the effort. This is expected to be a brutal engagement, if this initial assault is any indication of the battles to come, it will be fiercely fought to the bitter end.
The Luftwaffe moves into a more precarious situation, as they stretch the limits of their fuel supplies while digging ever deeper into well supplied and defended territory.
This is a win or lose battle, achieve outright victory or lose, every pilot will be crucial until the end.
Join The Battle Of Britain! This event runs through September.

Awesome event. Might go down as best in AH history. :aok

The coordination, at least on the LW side, was pretty incredible. With each gruppe upping from a different field, we coordinated and brought our gruppe together into geschwader. Us in JG3 were at 26,000 ft, Waystin and his boys in JG52 (I think) were at about 33,000 ft, and then JG2 was at 18,000 ft. We met an enormous group of Hurricanes and Spitfires over the channel and had an epic battle. That was the most fun I've had in this game in a while.

I was leading 2 squads of hurris and a few spits into position over dover, we turnt south into a couple of groups of 109,s just as we engaged it seemed like another 20 109,s showed up it didnt end well but was one hell of a fight.
:salute to both sides for an epic first frame.

it was pretty naughty to do the second wave so late but it was down to us to make sure we had people covering.
Well played Luftwaffe and I hope you have a better turn out next week.

Logs...plz give us the logs.

they are there for all to see,
I said I only managed one ace in a day but I must have forgotten about killing the other 5 wrapped up in the battle!
Don't know how it says I killed ozrocker in his chute, I swear to god I didn't shoot any chutes however much fun that is. I guess he discoed after bailing or something. Anyway that is my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I was one of those Spits.
We got sandwitched between 109's on our left and right. As the fight went on one group maintained alt while another dropped nearer the deck. I think I may have been the last man standing as I egressed for fuel taking note of all my fallen brothers swimming in the channel awaiting rescue.
That was an epic battle and huge fun. Can't wait for frame two.

O.O you were the hurri I couldn't get off my six. My exact words while fighting "This has to be someone experienced, I hope it isn't Bruv."
Tailslide after tailslide, you were stuck on me until I called for help from the rest of the gruppe.
Good flying The Few, good flying RAF.

I was a little nervous when I saw those high Hurris when we were on our bombing run but it did work out in the end. Good escorts and good communication allowed us to get some bombs on target. The wingman command allowed us to stay tight but it did interfere with gunning cause it made our wings shake. But the enemy didnt know that and they just saw tightly grouped 111s.

Darn good flights and fights yesterday. Thanks for both sides. I enjoyed the heck out myself!

That was most likely me . I was 100 or less of a 109 on the sea when his mates came in and chased me off. Got a few pings in him but not enough .

The BBC is reporting 225 Luftwaffe aircraft downed for a loss of 93 of our planes, with 42 of our gallant pilots rescued. Enemy propaganda in the form of something called a "scenario log", doubtless written by Goebbels, claims that our lads' claims are grossly inflated, possibly by a factor of three, but who are you going to believe? I think I'll trust the BBC! :bolt:

I wish I was awake and not busy to come to these, so jealous :cry

You guys have no idea how much I wish I could be there for BoB, every one of them has been a blast... ok, well kinda, I busted a couple knuckles yesterday at the hangar and am in Reno tonight with our tool wagon.
This very second im bored, nothing to do until my first plane arrives tomorrow afternoon, and there's only this much penny-slotting and womanising to do on a student/volunteer budget. :ahand Where's MadDog when you need to figure out where the loosest slots are within walking distance of downtown?

An epic fight to target.

Good fighting to RAF folks as well. <S>
The He 111's did one mission, ran home, and immediately launched for a 2nd mission. I even had to cut corners on my preferred route for the 2nd mission to make it to target before end hostilities. I like our He 111's, but they are quite slow, and not all of England is close.
If you let us use our JATO packs, though, we can be there more quickly. :aok
