Title: Survey of Combat Theater Preferences: VICTORY POINT SYSTEM AND PILOT STATS NEEDED?
Post by: Buzzbait on August 29, 2001, 03:57:00 PM
S!

There has been several calls for a point system to indicate which side is winning, and to tabulate the number of Aircraft shot down/Vehicles or Ships destroyed by each side.

Would you like such a system?

The MA has Pilot Stats with kills, deaths, etc.

Would you like a similar system for the CT?

sure.

As long as nobody can see that 90% of the lost aircraft are mine.

of course.. anything that can indicate which side is "winning"  without a visual indicator such as a real strat system we need something.

I don't care about personal scores.  Aerial victory and tonnage-on-target scores for each side would be interesting.

I am not here for the points. Just the feel. As long as I get my shot of adrenaline, I could care less whether I get shot down or not. For those who care, go for it. I will never make decisions based on point systems. Either I fly realistically (trying to stay alive and cover my buddies: alt monkey doing bnz) or for fun (lone wolf tnb against 3 to 1 odds with me in 109 below spits and at a lower speed  :)).

My current stats illustrate that I currently do not have the skills nor make the decisions required to score well flying either way, but I have had a ton of fun (i.e. trying to takeoff from a field with 3 planes overhead strafing, got killed 15 times in a row, when I finally got off the ground I killed 'em all  :D, A6M5 can be so sweet). Watch out for me when I get back to the level of skill I used to have when I played hth all the time  :p

yes, pilots stats mean nothing. A stat showing which side is ahead would be interesting with a goal of factories/bases/ planes destroyed resulting in a victory for a side and a rest which follows would give us sumpin to shoot for..

maybe the better the pilot the larger his hit bubble becomes  :)

No personal score ,please; if you give people personal score they will act to improve it and not to fly and return home safely; As you can see in MA people dive in furball to kill and kill and kill, no matter how many time they are shot down.....
It seems in CA things are going the right way...let them run so.
It would be cool to have country situation, or strat situation, so you can plan your mission for a specific goal

Right now in the CT the attitude & tone on channel 1 is excellent. How much of that is due to no score? Or is it that we have the "cream" of the AH pilots flying?

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing bombing & overall air to air stats. But lets leave personal score out of it.

How about competitive system of "Rank" in each side? Theoretical maximum numbers of 130 people on each side when sides are even.  :)

Anyone notice this number roughly matches with the size of LW Jagdgeswschwader(about 120 aircraft)/RAF medium sized Flight Group(about 150 aircraft)/USAAF three Flight Groups(148 aircraft)?

So, limited numbers of high-ranking air force officers, and lots of low ranking officers.. As your rank rises you'd be promoted to higher rank in each side(Axis/Allied). But the rank system will be calculated relatively, so there are always limited numbers of high ranking officers.

This would be kept track with pages like the one we have for scores and ranks currently, but instead of ranked in numbers, you'd be ranked according to the airforce hierarchy. And, it would also calculate according to which plane you've flown most. if your combined time in Allied planes is more than Axis planes, you'll be ranked under Allied hierarchy  :)

And, of course, this is just for competitiveness and fun, honorary thing. But maybe we can put few rewarding options for high ranking officers as Strat evolves un CT.

What say you about this idea  :D ?

I'd agree with no personal stats,

a Country score would be fantastic, the better you perform the better your country of choice scores.

however perhaps a way of keeping track of how long you have survived without dieing/being captured so you can play your own career type mode?

kills / accuracy etc are not what i go CT for. What i want is the 'Feel' like streakeagle says  :)
