Title: For those who say I won't duel
Post by: icepac on September 19, 2013, 09:39:31 AM
Cell phone connection or not, I issue a challenge to all who have accused me of backing out of a challenge in the dueling arena.

You know who you are so step forward.

The duels will be held at the highest "historic altitudes" of the chosen plane supported by mission reports.

Takeoff will be from a field no higher than 10k above sea level.

Any plane is open and you will raise the possibility of victory by checking my stats and picking a plane I have never flown.

Tune channel 201 and give me a shout because I am moving my entire house worth of stuff and will be away from keyboard off and on.

If I hear you or are at the keyboard, I will answer.......If not, I will scroll the text and get back to you.

Why put limits which ensure nobody will challenge you? If I wanted to spend 30 minutes climbing I'd jump in a bomber. lol.

Simple enough. Noone will have the patience to climb to 40k, ergo noone is going to duel him, ergo, he can remain unbeated. Well played, really  <shakes head>

Why the need for all the extra curricular activities? Take off from 2 opposing bases, and meet in the middle. Nobody wants to spend all day climbing to 35k.

Keep it simple, stupid.

The historic altitudes introduces fuel management into the equation which is just another facet of "realism".

How about you just duel me instead of commenting on why you wont?

Yeah icepac foreal, why are you trying to waste everyone's time flying to 30k so that when they get on your 6 in 2 seconds, you will most surely run to the deck. Not to mention, no one flys 30k in the MA so it is a waste to even practice from that high up. You haven't played this game long enough to be able to get a decent stick to fly 30k because no one wants to waste their time when they will shoot you down after the first emmulman. Seriously dawg.

I want to duel with as much realism as possible.

How about you just duel me instead of commenting upon why you wont?
Your a joke. A duel is about shooting the other guy down, not running him out of fuel.

I changed it to 10k after realizing there are no sea level fields in the arena.

Just show up and duel.

I'm moving this week so will be away from keyboard often but I will stay logged in to the dueling arena.

If I see you talking to me, I will answer.

If I'm not at the keyboard, I won't answer.

Personally, the best dueling fields are A24/23. Take off, auto pilot until you meet in the middle. No climbing, just flying straight for the middle.

Noone wants to play with you, got it? Why?

-you have been successfully played away your name
-noone wants to climb forever only to see you running
-noone on earth thinks climbing for a hour worths that 2 turns while you start running/falling/or you are teared apart
-you do everything to make us not to play with you. Yet you call us as it was us who would not fight with your mightyness. Ergo, you can say, noone have ever beaten you. Are you gayclef or what?
-go play with yourself at 44k. Have fun.

Maximum rated altitude of a given aircraft was not the typical combat altitude.  The requirement is stupid.

How many Spit XIVs do you think engaged at 43,000ft?  The low blown engines in the Spitfire LF.Mk IX and LF.Mk VIII were not so they could fight while gasping for air at 35,000ft.  Mosquito Mk VI's rarely broke 20,000ft and not uncommonly didn't break 5,000ft.

The maximum altitude thing is absurd.

I am lazy and get bored easily, IceCream.  How about this?

- I'll climb to 5K.

- You climb however high you need to feel safe, warm and is an adequate handicap given your limits.

Once you are feeling like you do at night when you are wearing your sexy flannel nightee,  come on down and fight.  I'll be waiting with open arms and huggies!

Smooches and lollypops!

I'm there now.......voice chat channel 201.

Leave your anger at the forums where it belongs.

This is supposed to be fun.

We can throw out ridiculous altitudes like the spitfire 46,000 foot battle over london but I would like to stay near the altitudes that our heros fought.

If robert johnson said he encountered 190s at 29,000 feet, then that is an agreeable altitude.......we can negotiate but I just don't want to end up dueling in a Spit XIV or TA152 with initial merge being at 2000 feet AGL.

Um...now?  I'm at work.

Again, you go ahead and fly up as high as you wish.  I'm sure those heros of old would have pounced on the chance to kill a Jerry below them at 5K.

jeez this thread is for the retarded, I duel at 10k and let the other person choose the 5 aircrafts, 25% Fuel and same loadout.
No way in hell im spending more then 15 minutes on an entire duel, let alone climbing to Short bus alt just for a fight.

Take it from me, I lose most of the duels, take your bellybutton handing and learn from it, not force others to fly your way.

It's important to point the turd out so someone doesn't mistake it for a Baby Ruth bar.

It's clearly stated.......take it or leave it.

My intent was to make the offer to those who have posted on the forums that I won't duel.

The intent was not to call out the entire forum.

I'll name a few names........Ratio, Fulcrum, Debrody, AKAK/ackack, and a few others who claim I won't duel.

Was on a long phone call with dad so was out of the arena for an hour but will be around sporadically until 12 midnight eastern standard time.

Leave the animosity here and let's have some fun.

I say better. You in 190D and me in 190D, on the deck, 50% fuel. Here are my terms, let the others judge, whose ones are more acceptable.
Setting up nonsense terms then saying that we dont want to fight only because your terms are stupid, idiotic, pointless, boring, unacceptable, is simply a sign of an insane mind.

Congratulations, you have just pulled a gayclef.

Terms being clarified for the intellectually challenged such as debrody.

Terms are........

Same plane

Ammmo/ord loadout open

Fuel load open

Fights must be near it's highest known altitudes as reported in action reports.

Take off from 2k fields 20 and 23 and meet in the middle at the agreed upon altitude unless distance insufficient for agreed upon altitude.

Two helpful links for altitude data.

It means we won't be grinding around on 25% fuel forever in La7s at 100 feet altitude.

If you don't bring enough fuel, you lose.

fuel will not matter when I beat you with better air combat maneuvers and knowledge of the plane set.

I really don't want to waste my time climbing to 30,000 feet when I know I will beat you in a matter of 5 seconds.

you don't have enough credibility to prove you are worthy enough to fly that high for a fight.

you will have no better chance fighting me at 6k than you would at 30k lets be honest here. The fight will still last the same amount of time, however if we do it at 6k,, you wont have to fall so far down when your wing comes off.

Where's the film of this?  Film, or it didn't happen.

I'd really like to see what you consider a "duel", since your definition seems to differ from the norms accepted by nearly everyone else in the community.

Icepac, is your concept of dueling "run the enemy out of fuel", as opposed to dog-fighting?

The generally accepted definition of a duel is to merge with your enemy and attempt to employ better ACM and gunnery, whereas your approach seems to be trying to avoid that.

If anything, your attempt at calling out "those who say I won't duel" seems to be proving them more right than wrong.

Respectfully,

Ryno

that was my impression too, but I thought I might be missing something...

I've usually duelled with only 25% fuel in the past, either on the deck or from air spawns in custom arena, and have never had a fight go on long enough to run out of fuel  :headscratch:  not saying it's not possible as i'm sure the great pilots have much more epic fights, but still...seems odd...

I'll name a few names........Ratio, Fulcrum, Debrody, AKAK/ackack, and a few others who claim I won't duel.

It's funny that you offer your challenge and give a time you'll be in the DA knowing that most of us are at work and won't be able to duel.  If you want to duel me, then we can set up something this weekend and since you challenged me in this thread, I get first pick of planes and then the winner of the first duel picks, both planes 25% fuel, 8k alt merge and best 3 out of 5.  If you really want to show your stuff, we can make the duel even more interesting, the loser pays the winner's month of AH.

Even though it is sometimes humorous, gets old with the egos and all.

Money where mouth is, or you have no credibility! :)

just like the MA proves absolutely nothing in terms of how many guys it can take to horde a field or win the war.

Okay. Let me explain it to you.

Some people go there to grow their cartoon balls even bigger. Like Rufio/BadBoy. And this ice ice baby too.
Some other people go there to improve their moves, etc.
And there are some people who find fun in flying against their friends in sterile circumstances.

Is it that hard to understand, after 12 years of playing this game?

I just checked and confirmed I am not able to perform this task to specifications.  :frown:  I feel the described process is too complex.

After performing some Six Sigma analysis I was able to streamline the procedure and eliminate unnecessary subfunctions.

I can now achieve the desired..... *ahem* ..outcome...by performing only one of the three described subfunctions and am much happier.  :D

Believe it or not dueling can teach a person quite a bit about dogfighting. Merges, energy management, throttle control, gunnery, learning how to fight in a stalled situation ...so on and so forth. I for one find dueling a better learning tool than asking a trainer for help. There are so many good cartoon sticks out there and they all seem to have a different bag of tricks, so IMO someone can learn more quicker.
If you want to get better at dogfighting this is how to go about it. If that's not your goal that's fine too.

85% of fights in the MA, DA or TA are won on the merge.  But if you don't 1 v 1, you'll continue to get beat in the MA by people that understand this.  There is one more trick to winning...you need to be able to look back side, straight back and and back UP and fly at the same time.

Changeup's helpful hints to keep him from stomping your ass.

DA never taught me to fight, its a great tool to learn ACM however I know some awesome dogfighters who can't live 15 minutes in an FSO. The Main arena helps with this, jump into a furball with a less then decent aircraft, learn SA and survival tactics.
When you combine the MA, Scenarios and DA - you become a much better pilot then simply the DA.

Once you learn to balance the three out, you become a much better pilot IMO. Honestly if you can break even in the DA, you are doing just fine.

this isn't a shame thread, everyone should known their strengths and weaknesses themselves. I admit I should of flown in the DA more with TopGun, but it was screwing up my Scenario flying when I wanted to play down and dirty with one aircraft rather then a dozen.
