Pretty soon you'll find your anti-virus software updated and that annoying sound in the car fixed.

Thanks. At 4 mos he's at least at the 8 to 12 mo level. The commands he knows and obeys are "come", "heel", "sit", "down" lay down,"left paw/right paw", "down" quit jumping on me, "kennel", "go down" the stair to the basement, "Hup" to jump up a level/walk on a bench, he knows the whistle/arm to go left/right/forward/back that I teach my hunting dogs. He knows what "go with Mommie" means. This damn dog is so smart he makes you feel like your talking with him.
Ive had some smart dogs, like Cayenne here (http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr149/Rich46yo/outdoors/caye-1.jpg) but none of them were as smart as this guy. He's my first Shep and the breed I find is very impressive.

I don't play anymore but I still check out the boards from time to time, glad I did today, Wow that's a great looking Shepard, right now were on our fourth family Shepard the last three were the same black and tan like yours. I may be partial but I think they are definitely among the best. The latest "Penny" looks a lot yours but at almost 3 she's not going to be the "big" Shepard as we've had, but she is the sweetest, loving most attentive of the bunch. Will probably top out at around 80 pounds.
Good Luck with your pup, take good care of him and he'll take care of you.

Thanks. As you can see my dog Blitz's dam was jet black and he had all black litter mates. He's not quite as tan as his sire but much more so then some of his brothers and sisters. (http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr149/Rich46yo/blitzparents_zpsf53ccdc7.jpg)
Ive found as long as they have lot of exercise they will settle down at night. And getting my rump up around the park isnt exactly a tragedy. I decided the dog is bright enough to trial and we may end up breeding him. The actual breed standard for the GSD is males 75 to 85 lbs and females maybe a tad smaller. When WW2 ended and Germany was split the GSD bloodlines were also split with the best working lines remaining in the east. Many of the GSDs that came to America were bred to American standards, and of course almost every American wants a monster 125 lb dog, so a lot of health issues were introduced into the gene pool and the working lines were diminished in America. Thats why police Dept.'s pay big $$ to get GSDs imported from East Germany. So I'd say your lucky your girl is only 75 to 80lbs. Anyway I get all this from the canine guys in my Dept. Thats why PDs dont take donation dogs anymore, cause the "work" has been bred out of them.
In the end who gives a crap as long as you love your dog and he loves you.
But I did want a pup from East German lines at least and those things are dang expensive, like $2,500 to $4,000. I got extremely lucky finding this guy for the price I did and he shows all the traits of the lines I was looking for.
Im pretty lucky with dogs. I was walking one of my hunting Labs around the park once when I saw a 6 mo vizsla pointing a pigeon. The dog was obviously a natural so I went up and introduced myself to the girl who owned him, and who 6 mos later became my wife.
She was a non-hunting yuppie who wanted a athletic dog to jog with and who just happened to pick a pup sired by this guy http://www.buschvizslas.com/askim.htm I hunted with that dog for the next 12 years. like i said "lucky".
