How about if Ack gets the most damage (or all the damage) on an enemy plane that it gets the kill credit and you get an assist at best (unless the AH model decides that you had previously done most of the damage)?

Pointing and laughing at the vulcher. :lol

Off topic but those motivational posters are hilarious:)

I dont think akak should get kills that he doesnt deserve :).

quit flying around ack and you won't have to worry about ack killed.
-
It really has nothing to do with whether or not you get killed by the ack but who gets the credit. For example if I ping an aircraft and then it gets shot down by CV do I really deserve full credit?

If it's me who was shot down: No.
If it's me who pinged you and you got shot down: Yes.

I know what your saying, but I wouldn't really want it from that perspective.
If ack was the only thing that hit the enemy (say a porker and no one noticed or cared to up to hit him), then the ack should get the kill. Perhaps saying "HiTech has shot you down" :rofl
I don't want to fight the "system" on whether or not I get kills. I already have to fight my connection :)

I like this idea. It just seems right from a historical perspective. Kills were and still are awarded to pilots who cause enemy planes to crash due to their actions. Some examples:
- First night of Desert Storm: An EF-111 was intercepted by a Mirage F1 and chased. The 111 evaded at high speed and low altitude, eventually causing the Mirage to crash trying to follow his maneuvers. The 111 was awarded the kill. There are some sources online that state that a nearby F-15 was awarded the kill, but my understanding (and I was first told this during my initial officer training course) is that the 111 was given the kill.
- Just after Desert Storm: An F-15C fired a missile at an Iraqi fighter, killing it. Another Iraq aircraft nearby (PC-9) witnessed this, and ejected, knowing (correctly) that he was next. The Eagle driver was awarded 2 kills.
- In WW2: Chuck Yeager approached firing position on a pair of Bf-109s, one of which maneuvered hard, running into its wingman, destroying both. Yeager was awarded both kills.
Ideally the proxy system would only award kills caused by the opponent's actions. Such as I pull a hard turn and the aircraft following me stalls, spins, and crashes. Or I dive straight towards the ground in a P-40, and the Bf-109 following me compresses and crashes. Or due to maneuvering in mountainous terrain, I cause my foe to hit the side of a mountain. Even cases where somebody recognizes the inevitable and decides to bail out similar to the F-15 incident detailed above (Me-262 encounters a Mosquito XVI for instance) should result in a kill being awarded.
However, I recognize that the game cannot tell intent, and it often falsely assigns credit for an unearned kill. That is a technical limitation and I am OK with that, but the ack situation is different. It would be easy to determine if the ack did the preponderance of the damage, and the kill should be awarded accordingly. It has nothing to do with liking to vulch or not.

And that's really my point. There are a lot of disappointed AI gunners who aren't getting the credit they deserve:)
-
It would also be interesting from a stat perspective. I die to guns on ships and fields more than anything else usually, and I suspect field ack tops that even. I am often the DD (designated de-acker), and I know all the tricks of the trade for avoiding a shootdown, but sometimes the gunners just have a lucky day and get a pilot kill or other lucky hit. I would be interested in being able to break that stat out from the other deaths just because I'm a nerd like that.

Denying those that ack run (because they are losing a fight) the kill can only help the greater good.
+1

I already get credit for kills. BAM! Wish granted!

then what at the end of every hour System:drunken (flack gunners fields guns) of (cv or airfield)( ) landed 500 victories :lol :lol would be good for a few laughs
-
Or like with manned guns when they are finally killed it shows their kills landed :)

If it's me who was shot down: No.
If it's me who pinged you and you got shot down: Yes.
:D
I would agree with that, good idea.

Trivia :a pilot of jg26 first claimed a spitfire, it crashed in between 2 shermans destroying both, some minutes later he claimed to have shot down another spitfire, and it crashed into a third sherman....
Why use ordnance when its right there from the start ? :x
