Title: Italian Aircraft
Post by: DurrD on September 27, 2013, 03:03:39 PM
The country that is shorted the worst on aircraft is Italy.

Yes, I am aware that France, Poland, Australia, and others had some aircraft that are not included at all, and I am not opposed to adding those, but most of them are early war or less capable types that saw little service anyway.  I still want them, but I don't think it should be priority.

The US, UK, and German plane-sets are already well stocked, even though they are obviously missing a number of planes, many of which would be useful for both MA usage as well as scenarios (in my opinion, the top candidate for US would be the A-26; for the Brits, Fairey Firefly; and for the Germans, the He-177).

The Russians have several glaring holes in their plane-set (Pe-2, Pe-8, Lagg-3), as do the Japanese (Ki-100, J2M, Ki-45, Jill, Judy, Grace), but I think the Italians need attention before any of the above.

It makes sense that they did the C.202/205 first for Italy, but there are 2 fighters that saw use that arguably are even better (and in my opinion the C.205 is way underrated in by most people in AH, its a great fighter).  The Fiat G.55 and Re.2005 would round out the top 3 Italian fighters of the war, and so I would like to request those first.  For some reason I have always thought these 3 Italian fighters some of the most beautiful planes ever made.  They just look exotic, befitting the country that produces Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Following that, we need some Italian bombers (any of the 3 main three-engined bombers that they used, the Z.1007, SM.84, & SM.79 with SM.79 being my pick), and some earlier war fighters (Re.2000, Fiat G.50, Macchi C.200.  For something unique in the MA, I would submit the CR.42.  It would be the only biplane in the MA (until such time as they add the Gladiator, Albacore, or Swordfish, if they ever do), and would probably outmaneuver even the Ki-43.  For a heavy bomber, the P.108 has to be one of the least known airplanes of WW2, but it was reasonably capable.  I don't think it would do all that well in the MA, but it would be unique (as far as I know it has never been modelled in a flight sim).

So, my top 5 Italian requests in order:
- G.55
- Re.2005
- CR.42
- SM.79
- C.200

All right Yogi Berra!  I know people have requested most of these before, but I think its worth bringing up again from time to time.

Re.2001
Cr.42
SM.79

And for fun, throw in the Gloster Gladiator for the british - it would be a hoot :)

+1...but i think the SM-82 kangaroo should be on the list,it was a bomber and a transport used by italians  and germans ansd other axis.  it would give axis a goon counterpart and the italians another plane with bomber capabilities.

I go back and forth on my list. I really want the P-61 but accept it is a long way off.

I would love to see the...

1. C.2000 (I'm not familiar with these other Re.2002, 2005 etc models)
2. J2M3
3. Ki-100

That is my vote.

Used to fly C205 all the time.. But it has gotten more difficult since the upgrade..
I'm not "Metric Oriented", so I miss the generic instruments..
The new look is Beautiful, but I don't fly it any more.. :lol
Ah well, life goes on..

The instruments aren't in metric.  All aircraft in AH use US speed, altitude and climb rate measurements.

The Re.2005 would be the undisputed sexy beast of AH. As much as I hate to say it, it would look even better than a 109.
