I was tanking in CraterMA last night.
I shot once at a tank in the trees showing no icon and got a message that I had shot myself five times and credited a player on the opposing side with a kill on me.
A bit later I took another single shot at another tank in the trees showing no icon and got a message that I had shot myself three times and gave the same opposing side player the kill on me. The second time the tank I shot was clearly facing our spawn at the top of a ridge/hill evidently waiting for someone to break over the hill.
The kills and deaths all show up in statistics and while the opposing player has pretty good stats they aren't out of the realm of possibility.
I don't want to jump to conclusions and I did take a screen shot of the system messages that I plan to send in to HTC but am wondering if anyone else has run into this?

Lacking film, one possible explanation could be that the tank you shot was indeed a friendly one (icon gets often hidden by trees) and the enemy player getting credit was simply close enough for the proxy. :old:
But then, that's just another example why I always run film ... no guesswork necessary ;)

Next time give a check 6 in your gun sight, if you get a message its a friendly, if not shoot!

If you were zoomed, icons don't show the same.

I was squeaking about killing shooting myself like that one day on range and some gver called me a dumby and told me to use the check 6 button. :bhead Wasn't my idea.

Same sort of thing happening to me. I was gunning for one of the 49th guys during a strat raid, and we encountered 163's. I claimed one, and then another one dove. I shot him full of rounds, and got the message in the radio, "You have shot yourself (I can't remember how many times) times." It was odd, because the 163 did damage to the bomber I was gunning for.
