What could be some of the reasons that this process would be fluctuating between 19 and 98 in the CPU column of the task manager and also using 30% and higher showing in the CPU usage area..... this is crazy... (windows xp) being used on a network as a workstation... this is nuts!!!....We had a server pack up and so had all the workstations re loaded... supposedly wiped and reinstalled all of our systems... things were fine..had a few issues and so they decided we needed to install a program so that they could remotely attend to our less serious issue we had after the initial reinstall server upgrage/renewal... ever since I did this my pc has just run like crud...they say this isn't the issue but I'm not sure...
anyway... system idle...what is this and why would it be so high... there is 48 processes running but only two this..firefox and sometimes three "system"
but while i have been typing this.(i am slow hahaha ) 10mins or so this fluctuation and CPU usage has been nuts... It has just got too much and I thought why not ask some people with knowledge about this as the tech guys we have used are usless... one thing they are good at though is billing hahaha..
sorry for the long winded tripe... let me know if I need to show something.
the software is LabTech MSP www.LabTechSoftware.com
Any help appreciated

The "System Idle" process should be at 99%, almost all the time. The higher that number, the less your computer is doing. The "CPu Usage" percentage at the bottom should be at zero almost all the time, on an idle computer.

hmm yeah... dumb question on the system idle haha sorry
But the CPU usage is always high...well 15% or more....I can hear the hard drive working all the time nothing I know changed other than the software I put on for the IT guys... Could this possibly cause an issue on an older machine...would this be permanently on? II can't find a way to uninstall it either....the guys said it would be fine..recommend updating my system but as it is wouldn't be an issue... I'm just not sure.....
Man!! I wish I didn't tease and instead became a computer geek (you know back in the 80s) when I was at school, as I can't even explain my issue properly... boy hind sight is a marvelous thing isn't it.

:huh that wasn't in there when i asked...i swear. :lol
SPKmes, that program is definitely the reason behind your fluctuating cpu usage. since it's a remote monitoring program it's going to run as long as the system is turned on monitoring running processes and doing whatever scans it needs at pre-programmed intervals then feeding that info back to the monitoring server.
