I also was hoping for a bit of the Korean war arena ingame, A bit of Sabre-MiG combat would really make the game alot more in depth

in december i will be running jetweek in the AVA using the korea map. its as close as it gets. 262 vs 262..

It is problem to have a single jet to run Korea...
I would really love to see some more early jets and early jets arena:
British
- Meteor Mk III (WW2 actually - must for AH2)
- de Havilland Vampire/Sea Vamprire
American
- P-80
- F-84
- F-86
- F9F
Russian
- MiG-15
French
- Dassault Ouragan
- Dassault Mystère IV
Also a gyro gunsite would be needed

:aok
I've sat in the F9F Cougar (the swept-wing version of Panther, not the thirty-five plus year old woman prowling for twenty-something men) on display onboard the U.S.S. Yourtown at Patriot Point, SC. Cool stuff.
Is the screenshot from the Korea mod for one of ThirdWire's games (i.e. Strike Fighers 2)?

Wishlist. Nice screenshot. :aok Wrong game. :P Good plane :salute

I think a Korean war arena could be fun so +1 :aok
That being said I think it should be closer in function to the MA then the WW1 arena so that people will actually go there and fight. Much as I love to fly those little canvas deathtraps most people seem to avoid the place like the plague because nobody has handed them an objective.

:rofl :rofl :rofl
When we have filled out WW2 VERY well, with even "oddball" planes like the TB-3, then a look into the Korean Era Arena is in the works. :aok I still give this a +1. :x

no but in the 12 years i have been here its been brought up a few times with no end in sight :neener:

I would like to see a Korean War Arena added eventually, but concede that its likely a long way off. However, I don't want it so much for the jets (although they would be fun) as the additional propeller driven aircraft that could be added to the game. We already have some aircraft in AH that flew in Korea as well, so for a relatively minor initial effort (adding a handfull of new planes) we could have a credible Korean War Arena. Also, there are a few new aircraft that could be added that flew in both WW2 and Korea. I'm not a GV guy, so I can't speak to what (if any) current GV's were used in Korea.
Aircraft already modeled that flew in Korea:
B-29
F4U
LA-7
P-51
Seafire
Yak-9
C-47
Unmodeled aircraft that flew in both WW2 and Korea:
A-26
Tu-2
Gloster Meteor
Other Korean War aircraft:
IL-28
A-1 Skyraider
McDonnell F2H
F7F
F9F
Sea Fury
IL-10
La-11
La-9
F-94 Starfire
P-80 Shooting Star
Mig-15
F-82 Twin Mustang
F-86 Sabre
F-84
Helicopters
I've probably missed a few...... Obviously there are still many things to be added to AH for WW2 so I'm not saying that a Koren War Arena should be a priority, but why not someday? Now, the question is, would anyone fly in it? I do remember the Korean War Arena in AW being a ghost town most of the time, but I think that if enough new aircraft were added (i.e. not just the F-86 and Mig-15) that it could be a credible alternative arena.

I think if the arena were more of an MA style setup it would attract more players and possibly new players who don't share our interest in WWII aviation but might like to turn and burn in jets.

I don't see where the Meteor is a "must." It would add nothing to scenario/FSO/etc. play since they were forbidden to fly over German-occupied territory, and in the Mains would be used no more frequently than the 262. If a Korean War arena is added? Sure (allowing RAAF skins only). When there's pretty much nothing else to add for WWII? Ok. But in no way is this a "must have" aircraft.

Think it's a screenshot of one of those add on packs for FSX.

Its a screenshot from some game. Was doing research
for a scale model build when I chanced upon it.
Here's the link (http://www.vertigostudios.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?76-The-Bridges) and another pic of this most beautiful of jets:

I've mentioned this idea years ago to HT and staff
but to no avail. I've even suggested that it could be
rolled out piecemeal by modeling the planes from the
Korean War as special treats for CON goers and then
when a suitably deep planeset was ready, start
a Korean War arena with all of the created planes.
Nada.
I just stumbled upon another game that offers
the F9F. Its arcade-like to be sure but looks
like it could be some fun. The F-86 is there
too. (War Thunder) Here's the video I ran across.

I don't know what the future holds for Aces High.
I've been here since way back around 2001
under the screen name StracCop. Since then
a lot of new games and technological advances
have appeared. I'm just afraid that AH2 is
losing ground and want to help it stand out as
the best of the best on the menu these days.
What more can I do?

Yeah i've migrated here from War Thunder aswell. War Thunder is adding player-controlled tanks next month too, so AH2 will be getting some competition. Basically War Thunder supports combat from the dawn of WW2 and biplane combat to the advanced Meteor F.8, MiG 15bis and F86F2 Sabre.

pangea,
We do not have a Seafire that remotely resembles the Seafires flown in Korea. We don't even have the dominant WWII era Seafire which is closer to ours by far than it is to the Griffon engined, bubble cannopied, all cannon post war Seafires. The closest we have to the Korea Seafire is the Spitfire Mk XIV.

Thanks for clarifying that Karnak. I got that list by doing a quick search for combat aircraft of the Korean War, and did not research it more thoroughly. I did think it a little odd that the Seafire was on that list.

I would suggest not to tall it Korean War Arena but rather 1st generation jet arena. Because limiting it to Korea you miss following great planes:
British:
------
- de Havilland Vampire
- de Havilland Venom / Sea Venom
- Hawker Sea Hawk
French:
-------
- Dassault Ouragan
- Dassault Mystère IV

I say call it the Korean War Arena .... but include all aircraft in service from 1947 to 1953. That way all the earliest jets with the last of the pistons are utilized and everyone is happy. I personally would love to see some action in the F2H. I have the Razbam version for FSX and I enjoy flying it offline as well as in VATSIM. But once again if you get too squirrely over the CONUS the ATCs yell at you.
