I've been thinking for a while about doing the monetizing thing for my YouTube channel to make a little extra money since I'm very poor and could use a little extra oncome. This would put ads in and around my YouTube videos and I was wondering if that would bother you guys into just not watching the videos? I've been reading up on how the whole thing works and it sounds like I'll need to be calling HTC to get licensed approval to use footage from Aces High in my videos and I do not want to go through the whole process if the ads are just going to drive you guys away from the videos.
Maybe I'm just over thinking this all, but I'd like to know from you guys if the ads will have a negative affect. I make these videos to help you guys, so I don't want to do anything that will drive people away from watching them.

I would have to devise a fitting torture in return.
I'm kidding, of course. I grew up on commercial television.
-
Ads are annoying, but I just close the popup. In the cases where it plays a commercial BEFORE the video starts, I'll either wait the 4 seconds to skip it, or if it's a video I'm just curious about rather than wanting to watch, I'll just dump it and move elsewhere.
-
Wouldn't bother me any.

There IS a catch. We want vids that are DOUBLE of what ye do. :)

+1 and i wouldn't mind.

I wouldn't mind,
maybe HTC needs to send youtube some $$$ to have some adverts for AH popping up when people search for WW2 videos etc.
I see WOT and WT always seem to be plugging their inferior products on there.

I wouldn't even notice ads on your channel, almost all YouTube channels I subscribe to have adverts. I just wait the 15 seconds or skip the longer ads, it's become routine.
I agree with Bruv (is that possible?) that HTC needs to advertise on YouTube. I think they have a very good formula for direct marketing, getting the ads to the people who are looking for that kind of thing.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like this is a good option for me to take right now. I always wondered how nice it would be to make money by playing video games :D

The ones that do it "professionally" usually sell T-shirts and other merchandise as well.

Your videos are awesome Latrobe. Plus any time you spend making videos keeps you away from schooling us in the MA! ;)
I wouldn't mind the adds at all Latrobe. Hopefully, it will be better than my my experience with monetized videos. Like everything else, it's based on audience size and popularity... FreddieW for example, gets several million views when he puts out a new video each week. My best video (in terms of views) is close to 600 views, and so far it's made me fifteen cents... My total earnings for my three monetized videos (less than 1200 views) is sitting in the neighborhood of thirty-one cents.
So we need to grow our audience.. or maybe if we can start weaving funny cat videos into the cut scenes between the dogfights, that will help. Those darn cat videos always rack up the hits!
