Title: P-40F
Post by: LancerVT on October 11, 2013, 12:52:08 PM
I believe the P-40F is woefully neglected in the skins department. Is anyone currently planning to do any new P-40F skins?

I started a P40 skin, but did not finish it. I saved it as a bmp and not a psd so I cannot edit it. I will do it again but don't know when I will be free.

If you have any that you would like to see in-game then post them and I promise I will try and get it done before next skin batch.

The only country to fly the P40F was the US, correct?

Supplied to the Commonwealth air forces under the designation Kittyhawk Mk II, a total of 330 Mk IIs were supplied to the RAF under Lend-Lease. The first 230 aircraft are sometimes known as the Kittyhawk Mk IIA.

Here is a thread with a bunch of profiles
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,316356.0.html

I believe a P-40L skin can be used on a P-40F, as the only difference between the two airframes was the p-40L had 4x.50 cals and was a little lighter

A couple suggestions from me I'd like to see:

On page 5, reply 73 by lyric, item 33 in the link above, 'White 209' 68FS/347th FG, just to have a shark mouth P-40F

A couple other ideas are a french north africa skin, maybe The Vulture seen in the link, which is a variant shown on page 9, reply 131 by Twinboom from the link above
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmaquette72.free.fr%2Fthemes%2Flafayette%2FP40_normal%2FP40_avions.php&sl=fr&tl=en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

For the MTO, from the link with the P-40 profiles, page 8, reply 110 has a reply by Lyric with a bunch of MTO p-40F and L skins. None really strike me individually, but would like to see maybe a solid green and a solid desert sand, just for variety. There are also a couple with the green, earth and sand which seem interesting. Another suggestion is "Miss Fury" P-40F-1 Warhawk 41-14081, 65th Fighter Squadron flown by Capt. Roy Whittaker.

Nice try, but all those P-40s have Allisons, see the air inlet above the nose?
