Title: Teamspeak 3 Overlay causes Host Disconnect
Post by: Bludy on October 19, 2013, 12:09:35 PM
Teamspeak runs fine within AH, but as soon as I enable the overlay, I get a Host Disonnect and AH closes, or if I already have TS and the overlay running and try to start AH, it crashes at the end of loading the terrain for the selected arena. Is there any thing I an do to get the overlay and AH to work together or is this pushing a rope?

It started happening to me a couple of TS updates ago. I haven't played around with the overlay settings much to see what is causing it. I'm running Win7 64 bit.

This thread will probably be moved to the hardware/software forum, as this is not an issue with the game.

Run DXDIAG and save the information to the text file.  NOTE:  If you have a 64 bit operating system, be sure to run the 64 bit version of DXDIAG.

In the video section of the text file there is a line near the bottom which will tell you if the "D3D9 Overlay" is supported.  If not, then it will not work.  If it is, then it should work.

To get the overlay to not crash AH as soon as I enter an arena (online or offline), I had to uninstall the latest version of the overlay plugin and install version 3.7.19 instead. I also had to uncheck all the Direct3D overlay options except Direct3D 9 to get it working.

You can download it from the downloads page (http://ts3overlay.r-dev.de/download/) on the overlay dev's site.

Thanks for info. Does it replace or add to to vox capability in AH? I don't mean to take up your time answering questions. If there is a source thread discussing this, please refer me. Again thanks for your help.

Teamspeak (Ventrillo, Mumble, etc. are others) does not replace or interfere with the built-in vox of the game. It's a supplement that gives squads another option to communicate.

Until a couple of years ago, the in-game vox wasn't as clear and was prone to stop working under certain circumstances. The nice thing about apps like Teamspeak is that they work outside of the game, so you don't even need to fire up the game and go online to chat with your squaddies.
