Parent Accuses Football Coaches of Bullying After 91-0 Win purely because of the final score. And the school district is actually investigating. I went through high school in the 90s and the response back then would have been TS now get lost.

:rofl :lol :rofl :lol :rofl that comic is absolutely on the money...
where i went to high school, the "parent" (for lack of a better term) in that news article would have had their house "redecorated" and the kid would have been shown what bullying really is.

Its low class pimpy coaching but it aint bullying. People gotta learn the system cant fix everything.
I played for, and coached, 4 separate Pop Warner National Championship teams. We never piled on like that. Once the lead got to 2 touchdowns or three the second and third strings went in. This coach is a doosh for doing it.
But making a formal complaint is ridiculous.

you must have missed the part where the coach had his second string playing in the first quarter...the benchwarmers finished out the game. sounds more like an idiot coach on the other side of the field...

Yeah, there's been plenty of stories where losing team was either just plain THAT bad, or the winning team just plain THAT lucky (or good), that no matter what the winning coach did he couldn't prevent utterly curb-stumping the other side.
-
I didnt miss it. I just dont believe him. 485-47? This team has played 7 games which means they average 70-6.5, or there abouts, for each game in the season so far. Some coincidence. That and I smell a lie coming from this guy.
Not to imply I dont think a formal complaint isnt pathetic.
-
Cant lie about subbing in backups in the first qtr and then having a 'running clock in the 3rd' I think they only threw it 10 times all game.
The crime is this lady belittling the action of Bullying, taking away from it. Also I think the school is forced to investigate because it was a formal complaint of Bullying. Again, essentially crying "wolf"

Simple solution... Don't schedule crappy teams to play the best in the state... Better yet, they should put in a mercy rule, stop the game when the score is so lopsided that it's evident that the game is a gross mismatch. At 40-0, the officials should have pulled the plug.
How do you maintain team morale if you're telling your team to play half-assed, because the opposition is completely outclassed?

I agree. Play full out 100% of the time. Even with 2nd and 3rd strings.
Win or lose. I have to laugh at the little leagues that have an official "there is no loser" policy.
After the young participants grow up and enter the job market and find out winning at what you get paid for is mandatory
it could be a shock.

Dont know about now but it used to be "mercy rule" that once a team got up like that either the third stringers had to play or in the event there werent enough third stringers. Everyone had to play outside of their normal position. And the clock would become continuous
The latest "official" Mercy rule I could find is as follows as of 2009
"All Levels – Mercy Rule
Once score goes up by 28 points or more:
· Clock becomes a running clock and does not revert back to a normal clock. Can be stopped for injury only by
referee. Team timeouts can stop clock.
· As long as point difference is 28 or more, team ahead in score must run between the tackles. Mechanic: R & U
line up over opposite tackles and back approx. 10 yards. Ballmust cross LOS by running between them. 5 yard
live ball foul for illegal procedure. The calling of the penalty is at R’s discretion.
· Teamahead may not on-side kick any free kicks.
· Any turnovers recovered by the winning teamcannot be advanced – blow the ball dead"

Doesnt work that way. Least in Jersey towns play other towns from Mitey Mites all the way up to Midgets. You might have an outstanding Midget team but your Jr Pee Wee team may be terrible. Or vise verse or any combination therof.
For example,Thus the Whootsville Midget team may blowout the Bloomingdale Midget team and the Bloomindale Pee Wees may blow out the Whootsville Pee Wees on the same day.
You dont get to choose good teams vs bad teams. Its town or area against town All the teams from Mitey Mites on up play each other and however the scores shake out they shake out

Watching the team at my Grandsons High School has been painful at times with one season they went 0-13. :cry
Shutouts are not that uncommon in HS ball.
They got a new coach the next year and won some games. It depends on the caliber of players that sign up. A lot of potential good players have gone to basketball as that has become more popular with less chance of injury.
You also get your best players graduating every year. :bhead

The losing team's coach has said to the press that he doesn't see it as bullying, his team just lost. The winning team was playing their third string players by the second half of the game, so other than telling the players to stand still with your arms at your side what else would you have them do? Yeah it sucks they got beat so badly, but aside from stopping play (I.E. punishing his own players) the winning coach did what he could.

I heard when the ugly cheerleaders started scoring then things got 'way out of hand'. Wink wink nudge nudge. :devil

I remember a teacher who would put notes on the overhead and left the room to talk with other teachers for the rest of the period. When asked to explain the lesson she would tell students to refer to the notes and if they asked her to explain it she would say the student was a disruption and have them sent to the office. She didn't even have to right a lesson on the board each day she just put those same over head projections on and called it a day...just saying.

Everyone knows 8 out 10 teachers are rubbish :old:
Problem for teachers we all know their game because we have had to deal with them :old:
How to become a teacher:
1. Goto enfant school
2. Goto primary school
3. Goto high school
4 Goto university
5. Goto teacher training college
6. Go back to school
Then complaint that you are not shown respect

You think 8 out of 10 teachers are rubbish? That seems incredibly high.

where Zack lives, it's average... :lol
the education system has so many problems (from the parents to actual dumb teachers) that in a couple of more generations...kids won't know what geography is, let alone be able to spell it.

Yeah I totally agree that there are plenty of problems, but 8 out of 10 seems way too high. As far as knowing how to spell geography for future generations... Have you seen the spelling on the bbs, haha?
