This is probably a stupid question but i'm going to ask it anyway. Lately I am having a hard time trying turn with other planes. Even in KI-43's I'm having jugs out turn me like they're zero's. Been playing this game for years and I got a pretty good feel how all the planes fly, but lately they all seem sluggish. Could my 8 year old joystick be giving out on me? I've re-calibrated multiple times but I still feel like my planes are turning around like an old lady. Would like some opinions before shelling out money for a new joystick.

If you go to control panel and game controllers (or something like that) you should have a place to test it to see if it looks leggie as your using it. That's what i would do first if it was me.
(edit) Also make sure your dead band did not get cranked up or make sure your stall limiter did not get checked.

go into the map controllers section in the game and click on the advance button. Highlight which axis you want to test and then move the stick. In the blue boxes it shows you your stick movement AND as it relates in the game. If you have a lot of damping the two lines won't stay with each other.
An 8 year old stick "could" be going bad, but only you can really tell. The "raw" data line in the blue box should pretty much stay with you. If you slam it up the line should pretty much hit the top when your stick hits the stops.

This^^^ only I would add select each axis and check them all, rudder, pitch and roll. Make sure the red line goes all the way to the top and bottom of the window and then returns to center when you release pressure on the stick.
If you have an issue you will see the red line not go all the way to top or bottom,it might not center or may even be jerky as you move the stick. Any of these things would indicate a problem with your JS.

Curious. What kind of joystick is it?

Can you still do an accelerated stall at will?

I rarely have a joystick last anywhere near that long.
