Title: Disappearing CMBs
Post by: USRanger on November 10, 2013, 11:28:04 PM
Suddenly I can't see any of my clipboard maps in the TE.  Both new ones and ones in terrains already in-game (when I open them in the TE).  I havn't changed anything.  Just started a few days ago.  Don't know what could be causing it, but it's impossible to make terrains without it. :cry

Okay that is weird. Will fire up my TE tonight and see if I can duplicate.

Also, when trying to find a terrain where the CBM would show (in the TE), I temporarily lost the texture names next to the boxes like Mechanic just went through.  Really weird.  A fresh install of the Editors did not clear it up. :bhead

You already had an existing terrain in there? When you launch it, it opens with say avawinter? Or is opening with no terrain selected at all initially?

I wonder if the initialization somehow got thrown off. Try saving the terrain as a new name. Then shut down the TE and then re-open it.

Or do you have multiple version of the TE on your system? I have most versions dating back quite a bit. Every now and then I end up opening an older one, not realizing it, and then try to open up a newer terrain and things go wonky along the lines you describe.

Only one version of the TE on my system.  Yes, it opens to a terrain when started.  It seems to be only happening with certain terrains, almost randomly.  I've quadruple checked the CBM .bmps to make sure they are the right size & format.  Very weird.

When you say randomly do you mean that sometimes the CBM is fine with a terrain and then another time for the same terrain it is not?

Try renaming your settings folder to something else like "Bak_settings"
Then start the editor and create a new junk terrain like maybe "junk" and save it.
Exit the editor, then start it back up and open your junk terrain and see if every thing goes back to normal.

I loaded up a bunch of terrains both and old and new last night and was not able to replicate the vanishing CBM issue. Only way I was able to do it was to either remove the BMP file all together.

Hmm, got up today and all seems to be working again.  Must've been one helluva hick-up in the TE.  I don't know.  Thanks for the help anyway fellas.  Weird. :headscratch:

By any chance, are you running the TE on an SSD drive?

Negative.  Default HD installation location.
