Title: New Player
Post by: Pandora on November 11, 2013, 05:50:47 PM
New player, Airboss.

I am having a really hard time trying to control my language, because what I experienced tonight in game has made me feel so disgusted with peoples behaviour.

He was getting repeat killed on a tank spawn.  He has only played for one week.

No one helped him on the Knights who just killed him over and over and racked up the points.  No one helped him on Rooks, whose side he was playing for at the time.

Seriously, I think it is pretty poor that a new player, instead of getting help and welcomed to the game, gets repeat-killed by people more concerned about their score than the good of the game.  Back in the days of Fighter Ace we had a fantastic community. Many there would give up their time to help new players.  What I have seen here in Aces High makes me feel very sad.

Those involved in tonight's situation, you know who you are, I am not going to name names.

You should feel deeply ashamed.

Did you offer to help him?

I agree, except for one thing.  We can't always tell when the person we are shooting at is a rookie.  It's up to the team he is on to help him out.  If he shows up in a tank again, a tanker from his team needs to help him out.  If he shows up in the air, we need to keep our eyes open for him, and take him under our wing.

Yes, I did.  I switched countries to talk to him.

One player boasted over 100 kills of this one guy re-spawning over and over.  Everyone on Vox was laughing at how he kept re-upping and boasting about how many times they killed him.

You really think people can't tell a new player after they put this guy through such a clubbing?  When is the last time you upped 100 times in a row to get killed over and over?

I was sending him messages telling him not to re-up and I would explain how the maps/spawning work.

Quite frankly, I am appalled at the behaviour of many in game.

I doesn't take a genius to realize that dieing 100 times in a row is not good and that another approach may be needed.

So did you help him at the end? Or kept shooting

Even a new player would have figured out by death # 50 at the same spawn that he better do something different.

And airboss is not a new player at all. He is now in his 3rd tour giving thousands of GV kills to other players. Literally. The player behind that ID  knows exactly what he's doing.

:salute to Pandora for having the good thought to help a new player even if this guy turned out to have some level of experience that you were not aware.

i don't see the problem, a smart person would have figured out by death #10 that the spawn is camped and go do something else, or go find a gv fight somewhere else.

Pandora, were it me in your shoes, I would have directed to new player to the training arena and followed him over there, at which point you could explain what was happening and why it was happening.

Sure, it was disappointing that no Rook would come to his aide. The Knights weren't at fault; killing him, albeit mercilessly was their job.

But again, in this case it could not have worked as the player in question ain't that new as he apparently pretended to be ;)

I know sometimes you have a problem with the english language so I'll help

What he's saying is this "new guy" is really a shade account being used to pad certain people scores.  :D

I just said it's not a player not as new as he pretended to be, and knows what he's doing at the spawns after almost 3 tours. That's all. Really.

It did sound like you were implying something Snailman.

And saw the same crap today with a guy named SR71. He wouldn't shut up about how he wanted to take a base. Ever 15 seconds was "come on guys, lets go take a base" "I want to help!" "How can I help take a base!"

When he had 5% accuracy, 31 sorties logged this tour, 18 deaths, and a fighter score of 615. Obviously not a noob.

When SR71 announced he was over some obscure Bish base, looking for a fight I up'd a fighter and  offered to give him a go. I chased his dar dot for 4 sectors..half of them at 25k. Never made contact.

No doubt he was laughing himself silly, having trolled some into buying into his BS.

Shades who pull this crap ruin it for the new players. And for the record, I have now have no doubt the poor GV'r Pandora mentioned was one of these maggots.

Yeah, well that does paint a different picture...    :salute to you for trying to help.
