Title: New Scene
Post by: ONTOS on November 12, 2013, 02:45:10 PM
I still would like a Winter Map. I know we have one in A.v.A.. People have said make my own in special terrain, but I would like to see one on MA. There need not be any snow falling, just a winter map. We could some of the winter skins that are made for some of the planes and vehicles. Put the map in rotation, when the war is won it will rotate out like the others. We need something a little different in the game.

Winter maps would be GREAT to have.  Ditto with desert maps.

I once commissioned an acquaintance of mine who teaches various computer classes at a local college to have one of his classes make a winter map for MA use. They got all the tools they needed and started to get the work moving when for some reason unknown they had to switch to a different task.

I still to this day do not understand why we do not have a single winter map or desert map in the MA.  Is it taboo?  There are very nice North African maps (Tunisia?) that would be great to use in the MA.  Simply take the map and plop on a pie chart of bases.  Or isn't it that easy?

It isn't that easy.  First, the AvA maps are two-sided, not three.  Second, the distance between bases is typically shorter on AvA maps than in MA maps, and HTC requires the longer distance for the MA.  Third, the AvA maps don't have whatever programming is necessary to allow them to reset when all the enemy bases are taken (or whatever the formula is in the MA).  AND there are probably many other reasons, which USRanger and Easyscor, among others, could answer.

I dont think you're following me.

ok... forget the bases as we know them on the AvA maps.  Wipe them off the map.  Then take a pie chart with 3 sides and put NEW bases on the map in question.  Make the winter Ost Front map, or desert map of Tunisia a 3 sides map for MA use.  In short, use the terrain files but over lay a new base pattern.

Go for it, dude, sounds easy enough.

I would.  However, I can't barely use MS Excel let alone design a map.  Hence me commissioning my college computer programming teacher buddy to have his class make a map for the MA.   :aok
