What do you guys feel is the best plane/GV to use for a quick reaction to the following situations:
1. A Base less than a sector from you starts flashing, but you have no info on what you are faceing. I would use a 190 A-8
2. a base less than a sector away is completely unoccupied and you can easily de ack and capture. I would use a B25H so I could attack ack and still have a good defense, followed by a friend flying cover for me while i cap.
3. Your base is under attack, what do you up? I would up a Yak9T and try to rearm when I could.
So, any thoughts? :salute

1) F4U-1A
2) F4U-1D/C. Though the 25H is fun, too.
3) F4U-1A, F4U-4. FM-2 if I need to get off the ground and start turning immediately.

1. Spit IX
2. I wouldn't go there because there's no fight.
3. Spit IX from a field away.

Base defense- La-7
-
P-38G.
:)

P-47 Thunderbolt.
All the enemy will dive in for the easy vulch allowing your countrymen to get airbone in their aircraft to defend the base.

For a Knight, it's easy to answer...
1. They aren't attacking me. I'll wait till they get closer. I won't bother to gain any altitude in the meantime either.
2. It takes about 100 Knights about three hours to take a base. Why would I think I could capture one by myself?
3. I up a FW190a5...but I up from a base far away from the one that's under attack. But, that's me. Most Knights up from the base under attack just as the vulchers come screaming down the runway to give themselves easy kills.

1) Ta-152 or 109K
2) Who cares
3) 109K, Ta-152, or Ki-43 depending on the exact situation.

Mosquito VI in every case.
I will get shot down, so I might as well do it in my favorite plane.
Edit:
Sometimes I like to get shot down in a P47 and F6F as well.

1> 190D-9 Dora or Typhoon. Need low level speed (intercept ability), and I cant lower my own standards to up a La7 or P51D.
2> There are 6o other planes I'd use to de-ack a field than a B25H. The 75mm gun on the B25H is no better for de-acking than a 109G-2, matter of fact it is inferior in most ways. Not to forget the speed, climb, turn rate, and maneuverability either. Get there faster, de-ack faster, stay alive easier.
3>Base defense needs low level performance. Again, I can't lower myself to take an La7 or Spit 16, but I will take up a 109G-14 in most cases armed with 30mm (outstanding climb rate w WEP). I will also take an I-16, FM2, or Spit 8. Depending on help I'll also take the A6M3, I think it is often misjudged. It is an awesome knife fighter.

If it's the horde then it's usually a Yak-9U (if they are still incoming) or an FM-2 (if they are already over the field). Recently I've been taking the Yak-3 out and that is superb for both situations.

This is really depends on what kind of attack:
Air attack
-----------
1. 109K - starts/base near strats flashing - means somebody brings a bomber at altitude. Need both exceptional climb speed to get on station fast, durable WEP for a long climb and a weapon to kill bombers (30mm).
3. Base attack... Best would be La-7 - exceptional acceleration very good at low altitude, good firepower. Allows to get E fast and get into business. Also my favorite would be Yak-3
Ground attack
-------------
My favorite would be P-38G - dual engine, maneuverable enough if needed and every kill give lots of perks. Other option is Yak-9T nice for killing GVs and yet not bad fighter. Also good to kill bombers with 1 hit.

I sense a pattern here.... :headscratch:

Air:
1) Depending on base, if dar is not showing, the 87 G-2. Otherwise I jump into a gun at said base, knowing that it's probably going to piss him off (as well as folks here if he came here about it). :devil Wait... :uhoh Cat's out of the bag. :noid
2) Since you are pointing towards a Port or V-Base, it depends on mood really. Generally I take something with at least one cannon though, as it takes but a tap of the trigger to take out ack.
3) You didn't specify type of attack, though I am going to guess you meant the standard. At which point I up the A6M3. If a GV attack with little to no enemy air, then the 87 G-2. No one will cover the ground attack planes, so unless you enjoy bdsm to the extreme, you are better off taking something that can carry ords but handle itself in a fight when air is covering the gv's.
Ground:
1) Panzer F, about a third of the times with the short barrel 75.
2) T-34/76 or the Panzer H.
3) Ostwind or the M-16 for air. Otherwise I lean towards the Panther or the 38(t).
-
For base defense - an A6M3 or A6M5 if they are already swarming. I'd take a Hurricane IIC with 20mms if I had just a minute to get some E.

Seems like some days everything just clicks with the 152'and I can push her to the limits and come out on top and others I flop over my back and flat spin :cry
-
1. Literally any plane that I fly
2. Anything with at least 50cals. Preferably 20mm's though.
3. 109K4, or Yak 3 if they're starting to get the cap. Any plane I enjoy if it's still a rather even fight.
I don't stick with just 1 plane anymore, there are so many really good and really fun planes to fly! :D
-
Bf109K-4 I guess, as that is what I seem to grab when the situation is really tight and immediate response is needed. The Mossie just doesn't climb fast enough.

I'm sensing a pattern here. Quick, Debrody, whats your favorite bomber :bolt:.

What ever youre flying. Thats the easyest to shoot down in my 190D. :neener:

Good luck catchin' mah jetz :noid.

Haha looks like one kiddo is afraid of the resident hun-twit Dora'hore as he is running away :rofl
hush!
-
1. F4u1a climbing to around 5k quickly and leveling off to get speed when I arrive or........Yak3 NOE to keep dar bar from displaying and showing up at 360mph to surprise the attackers if they are low.
2. F4u1d with rockets and two big bombs.
3. Yak3, Brewster, N1K......sure a zero or ki43 can turn but you will surely absorb a couple of bullets before you can whittle down the enemy's altitude/energy advantage.

1.) Typhoon
2.) Taking buffs out of the consideration I'd choose P47N.
3.) Ta152...but I'm nuts. In my saner moments I'd probably choose a Typhoon or LA. If I wanted to have fun frustrating the h3ll out of the attackers I would take the A6M3. :D
