Title: new Power Supply
Post by: 1Cane on November 20, 2013, 07:57:25 PM
I just received my new corsair modular Power Supply its a cx750M.  I was looking at it and trying to decide if I should install it tonight.  After unpacking I decided to plug it in and see if it worked and nothing happened.  The fan did not turn.  So my question is does it have to be connected and have a load before it will work?

A Power Supply only turns on if 2 specific pins on the 20+4 plug are jumped/turned on. Can either be done by being plugged into the Motherboard and started normally, or jumping it as pictured;

Green wire + Any Black Wire.

As a note, it requires no load to power on. It just needs to be plugged in to the wall with those 2 pins jumped.

for newer PSUs some load is needed on 12v to get stable 5v and 3.3v
