Thanks for posting this. I've been waiting for news of this show for almost a year and wasn't aware that the trailer had come out.

They need to come up with one on the 5th AF

So does this mean they're full steam ahead into shooting the series or did they just pop off a quick trailer to get some interest buzzing? Last I heard they were still working on the script and planning phase. Have they come up with a cast yet?

I hope your Dad likes it ren, but I dunno, it doesn't seem up to the standard of Band of Brothers. "Kassel, 1942" is just plain sloppy research, the collision sequence is ridiculous and, as has been pointed out, no masks at B-17 altitude is a joke.

I guess it just drives me nuts when media people get it so utterly wrong - the whole thing smacks of laziness and crass, cliched scriptwriting.

This is nothing to do with HBO, this is a proposal from a special effects company for a film.

So this is not trailer for the HBO Hanks/Spielberg adaption of Donald Miller's novel "Masters of the Air"?

I figured they left off masks so the viewers could better recognize their faces, similar to how frequently characters in BoB had their helmets removed.

the collision sequence is ridiculous

I nearly spewed coca cola through my nose when I saw that in the "trailer".

If they wore masks, we wouldn't be able to hear them talk...

Looks pretty gripping to me.  Hats off to those 8th AF guys and those of the other US and British bomber groups.

Yeah, I had doubts about 3 seconds in. Isn't the HBO project called Bomber Boys?

The title of the mini-series is "the Mighty Eighth", but it is based on Donald Miller's book "Master's of the Air". Very in-depth look into life on both sides during the strategic air campaign. I highly recommend it.

It's a shame that it looks so lame. One crewman tells the other to get his mask on and breathe and then they stand around with no masks on.  I switched to HD version, and I am glad I did so I could watch the first 30 seconds of black screen in HD.

guy was hyperventilating and panicking.  not that he needed the oxygen mask but it distracted him from his panicking state.
