The X and Y axis controls feels like they need some lubrication. I opened my FF2 and I see it uses toothed plastic gears.
What kind of grease/paste/etc should I put inside Microsoft FF2 to lubricate X-Y plastic gearing?

Probably silicon grease. Don't use any regular oil as that can eat up the plastic bits.

go to your local auto parts store and get a tube of dielectric grease...
