I wonder how many remember when Doom first came out. :headscratch:
All I can say is watch the video and judge if you will like it or not.

One thing not mentioned is that it is actually harder than vanilla, but I am honest impressed with it.

I loved doom, and wolfenstein 3d. Moved on to quake when that came out too, but after that I never really played much fps.

Thanks for sharing the link. Had a blast playing Doom.

Having gone through Doom and Doom II, I'm in the process of working my way through TNT: Evilution. The Plutonia Experiment is the only one left for me. Then comes the fun bit of Co-oping through it all. :x
And a bit of advice, do not piss off the Cyberdemon. Things get a bit interesting when you do, and bloody. Can't wait to tell my Co-op partner to do it. :devil

I loved Doom..
Wolf 3D was the first game I had that used a sound card on the PC. 2 distinct gaming 'events' from that one.. remembering my skin jumping off after the first door slammed behind you and not knowing what it was. Then having to kill the dogs that attacked.. That didn't sit very well with me for a bit.

doom 3 was the only fps game to ever make me suffer from motion sickness...and i have no idea why.

I always loved Doom Guy's expression when you picked up a BFG or Chainsaw for the first time. That was a slasher smile right out off a poster for a Kubrick flick.
Most of the time I just ran around blowing stuff up with the rocket launcher just to watch the enemies splatter (though the Combat Shotgun in Doom 2 was fun). The funny thing was that for all the attention Doom got, Rise of the Triad was even BLOODIER.

Doom over 2400 baud.
Good times of sleepless nights.

Used to play doom quite a bit. I also enjoyed Descent. Talk about a way to get lost, that little game would tie you up in knots trying to figure out which way was up at times.

Oh you HAD to bring up Descent. :bhead That is one game I want to Co-op through the most now. :x But I can never get my copy of Descent to work properly. :cry

The BFG is a different beast in Brutal. It's been a while since I used vanilla BFG though, but the "new" BFG feels a bit more powerful, providing you HIT your target. As for ROT, I only had a crack at the shareware version. :( I had forgotten about it until you actually brought it up. Funny bit is it also had me remember Blake Stone. Those are 2 games I want to get the full versions of to play through. :x

Ah Doom, the first game that made me jump out of my skin, genuinely terrifying at times. Not many games have captured that since. Favourite gruesome moments including finding the spawn point for the imps and sitting there with a chainsaw and gutting them as they appeared! :t
Also there was a level with a courtyard. My tactic was to dash in and trigger all the monsters and dash out again and leave them to fight it out. When it got quiet, I went into mop up. Hilarious!

I LOVE to get them fighting each other. Oh the funny that results... :rofl

That works great in The Courtyard level. Run around the courtyard and open all the doors and cross all the tripwires. You can actually kill most of them without firing a shot.
Same thing for The Suburbs. That sometimes causes my PS1 to crash, if using the invulnerability sphere in the melee.
DOOM is my favorite game of all time. :x

Wolfenstein 3D in the early '90's on my old 386 pc, then Doom and Doom II.... loved them.
