I call this one "Late for a Tee Time". I was. The camera was charged and the GoPro attachments were already on the bike so I figured I'd take some footage of my trek up to the course.
Set to 1080p for better results:

cool, what is that a 125 or a 250? Seemed pretty nippy
-
A little 125. :)
Fun little thing to get around on, especially here because everyone rides one. Sort of like everyone is dating fat chicks. (Fun to ride but only until your friends find out) LOL
-
What software did you use the put the clip together?
-
iMovie. It has its limitations but it is very easy to throw a movie togther on it quickly.
-
I like how you blow through the stop, but slow down for the cross walk at the GC.

That cross walk is also a speed bump.
I only "blew through it" because there was nothing coming on that private road (my head moved to check, but not the camera obviously, it was fixed) and I was late. You should see the Club's shuttle blow through those stops.

Sweet! :aok
Take it easy though Curval, don't forget what happened to Lawrence of Arabia.

If I'd been on that ride I guarantee that some moma talking to her kid would have pulled out in front of me.
-
I ride with my left hand on the back brake at all times, not squeezing it but there just in case I need to stop suddenly. The next move would be to grab the front brake immediately if it really was an emergency Been riding here for many many years and had plenty of wipeouts and care is ALWAYS required. Don't know if you noticed the bus near the end coming in the opposite direction? You can't see them until they are there and if you happen to be passing a car or too close to the right side when they do appear...you are done. I have seen some really really bad things happen on those roads.
-
Wouldn't you swap hands? Greater braking power with the front and whatnot? :old:

lol
The front brake is on the right side. It is grabbed as fast as possible, but there is the throttle on the right as well. I can't control throttle and rest my hand on the brake at the same time while riding along because there is lots of throttle action on these tiny roads. I can on the left and do, there is no clutch, it's automatic, so I ride with one hand resting on that brake lever is all I was saying. It's marginal but helps.
I'm going to do another one on Harbour Road for some better scenery and will post it. Thinking "Jesus Built My Hotrod" for that one. :rock

looks like a fun little jaunt :aok speaking of braking and what not, when I built my chopper, I put a foot clutch on it. It was a triumph so it shifted on the right, and throttle is on right also. rear brake was on left, clutch on right foot. I reversed the throttle to the left hand(so I could speed shift) :devil and left the front brake on the right handle grip. wanna talk about confusing hahaha especially those trick hill stops :lol

"if you drive on the left, you ain't right".

I was thinking you were on about pedal cycle when you mentioned your left hand coveringvthe brake. I ride exclusively with my left foot covering tge rear brake and first two fingers of my right hand rest on tge front brake lever. I have never struggled with throttle control when doing this:confused:
-
Wouldn't your left foot be on the gear shift and your right foot be on the brake?
I was actually thinking about that point when I was riding in this morning. I find that I do in fact rest three fingers on the front brake lever (right side) when I am riding, particularly in traffic.
-
I used to ride an ancient ka125 before I got a car licence. I don't think I ever fingered the front brake unless I was using it. I mean, if I'm going then I'm going and if I'm stopping I'm stopping. The two functions never needed to be simultaneous. It doesn't take more than a micro second to release the power and hook my fingers over the brake. Feet on the other hand were always resting on the gears and rear brake. I remember clearly being stopped at the lights and bending down to hug the engine for the heat it emitted, winter was always a freezing experience. Was a fun little bike till I gunned it down a carriage way at 85mph for too long and blew a hole in the top of the cylinder. Then, to make matters worse, I tried to kickstart the seized engine into life and sheared off the kick starter...what an idiot. She ended up in pieces in the garage and never saw motion again.
-
After 34 years of riding these little death machines I have learned that microseconds matter. A lot.

oh absolutely! Not arguing against it, just sharing my limited experiences.

I had a roomate when I was in University in Toronto that rode a big motorcycle all year. ALL YEAR...in Toronto.
Your story about warming your hands reminds me of the times he would get home in winter time after riding the Don Valley Parkway from Downtown to Finch Avenue. He would just pull in and start yelling as best he could for help. One of us would have to go help him get his hands off the handlebars and help him off the bike and into the house. He would be so absolutely frozen cold he could barely talk, walk or function.
-
I've ridden home from work at 5mph with both feet on the floor skating. Now I am far from a fair weather rider but refuse to go out in high winds or icy conditions. Spent far too many bitter journeys with my ricker going 10p-5p :(
-
Were you on a pedal bike passing cars? The trees which lined that course were beautiful.
-
lol...I wish I could pedal that fast...uphill at times too!!! ;)
No Mom, it is a little 125cc scooter I now ride. I had that other 150cc motorcycle but got fed up with getting wet feet and I refused to put a basket on it, so I had to take a backpack everywhere. So I bought the scooter, which has a basket on it...you can't gay up a scooter any more than it already is. That fits my daughter's helmet and mine with room for other stuff too. And my feet stay dry, even when it is actually raining, not just on wet roads.
It gets me from point A to point B faster than my car does due to all the traffic and I can park it anywhere. Given the choice I almost always take the bike over the car.
