The defensive weapons of CVs against planes have to be efficient, but are imho way too accurate above 20k !
being sniped at 30k when travelling, by a passing-by CV group, isnt very realistic : :furious
what about lowering accuracy above 15k (or 20), for exemple by 5 % per 1000 feets ?
Opinions ?
Is it doable ?
Thanks ! :)

It may be related to the capability of level bombing a CV from that alt (which I think cannot be addressed nor is it anymore realistic). Some things just plain require balancing that isn't 100% realism.

Accuracy is lower. The %Chance to get hit from puffy ack is determined by distance to target, speed and G loading. So if you are higher up, you are farther away, thus decreasing the chance of being hit.
Incidentally I rarely get killed by ack, some of that may be because I don't like to spend much time flying around in it.
Now I wonder if pulling negative G's decreases, increases, or remains the same when determing % chance to hit. :headscratch:

If you're in a Bomber at 30k, the accuracy is just fine.
BTW, the L70 40mm Bofors had a range of around 41,000 ft in WWII. The L60 was around 23,000ft IIRC. Not sure which one is modeled.
The 5"/38 caliber AA shell went to about 38,000ft. I do not know if the Mk24/Model 1 or Mk28/Model 0 is modeled, but am assuming as it was Pre-Iowa Class.
Personally, I feel it is too easy to hop in a CV gun and wail away. The accuracy is fine.
