It appears an indie game studio out of Germany is remaking Red Baron and has been recently approved for Steam's Greenlight. They're promising better AI, graphics and a more dynamic single player campaign along with the obvious multiplayer. Now, if someone would remake Rowan's Flying Corps.
Red Baron is back! (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=188200879)

Favorite single player flight sim ever!
Wiley.

Now if only Aces of the Pacific could get a remake.

Aces over Europe!

Man I had a lot of fun with that game back in the old days. In fact my first on-line sim experiance was Red Baron.
Great stuff Ack Ack thanks for posting it. :aok

AotP was better. Much larger scope and better campaigns. Aces Over Europe was too limited in its focus, and by not even having a BOB campaign.
Oh, and it wouldn't be yet ANOTHER Air War in Europe sim. The Pacific/CBI is terribly underrepresented.

Interesting.
I'm a little concerned that they are going down the War Thunder road though.
Will reserve judgement though.
-
Have to say; what an amazing crew AH have to allow guys to post propoganda for rival sims on their boards without censorship.
No disrespect intended to you AKAK. Merely an observation.
-
Awesome. RB 1 was my favorite game of all time.

They have some steep competition from Rise of Flight. Sadly the Rise of Flight single player is not as good as Red Baron's was years ago but its not bad.

Yep, some people learn quickly how to make successful commercial projects out of flight games.
Before WarThunder you could only speculate about what was good or bad in bringing new customers into the game. Now it is pretty clear what to do. That is why Red Baron looks exactly like War Thunder but for WWI.

I'm sure HiTech and Pyro and others at HTC have fond memories of playing Red Baron back in the day.

Hope the single player will be as good as the original. RB's single player was fun but I still thought Flying Corps single player campaigns were the best.

Pat Wilson's campaign generator is a free mod for RoF, and is VASTLY superior to the base campaign.

I think I still have my copy of RB 3D somewhere at home, this is great news!
-
Looks so much like WT vids I wonder if they didn't license the engine.
-
I wish they finished the remake of "Wings" that was my first favorite. I know they had started to redo it. But it never came to pass

I've heard that but I haven't tied it yet. Mostly do quick online matches now in Rise of Flight. Some good sticks out in the RoF multi-player community....even if some of them fly the SE5A (WWI's answer to the PonyD.... :lol).

I've played a bit with the Camel and Nieuport 28, but I really think my favorite is the SPAD. The rotary birds are just too bouncy for my tastes, and I get really frustrated trying to line up on the cockpit and engine and just end up spraying everywhere (shooting wings is pretty useless). The SPAD, however, is a nice and stable gun platform, and much easier to get my guns on target. Especially with that Aldis sight. Maneuverability isn't great, but got to love her vertical and diving ability. I love watching Fokkers try to pull lead on me in the spiral climb and just flop right over.

I wonder how the Zeppelin raids will play out in this one. :headscratch: I had a lot of fun intercepting Zeppelins in Red Baron! :x

Those missions were way cool. Want to say I moved to this for a while after Chuck Yeager's Air Combat and thought the graphics were mind blowing!

If the sales are good for this new RB, I wouldn't bet against seeing Aces of the Pacific remade as well, as Dynamix did that one as well, and the person who owns the rights to the new RB game I'm sure would be offered the same should the $ be right.
This whole new crowdfunding thing is bringing a lot of great games to the public. Look at Chris Roberts, it's been almost 20 years since the huge success of Wing Commander, and people didn't forget - to the tune of about 33 million in crowdfunding investments so far - he doesn't have to answer to a huge company like EA or anything either this way, the money being the public's, he only has to answer to them, and is being very involved in the BBS system over there at Star Citizen.
