This probably won't be a big hit but in my opinion it would be cool if you could add the tropical filters on the fighters mentioned above for N. Africa or Med Special events maps. I know the Volkes filter used on the Spits supposedly affected performance but it would be a nice little piece of immersive eye candy if nothing else for
special events.

Performance altering things like that cannot be done, per Pyro many years ago. We'd need new versions added to accomplish it.
(Pyro's information came in reference to making Spitfire wing tips a hangar option)

I also wished to win the Powerball Lotto. Looks like the chances of both are running neck and neck then. :D
Don't both the bazooka tubes and the Luftwaffe rocket tubes affect performance?
-
Yes, but only in the same way that a bomb, or any other form of rockets do. They add drag and weight only, they don't actually change the flight model.

Drag and weight affects performance the filters add drag and weight in the same manner. Other than that they do not affect flight characteristics any more than a bazooka tube.
Their function was to keep sand out of the engine nothing more.

If Shifty wants it....I'm game.
+1 for the trop filters

I never said a word about the filters being impossible, I just answered your question.
But wouldn't the filter reduce airflow to some degree?
-
spit V already flies like it has the filters choking it's intake tract.

Marginally at best I would think. Not 100% sure though. From what I've read the Volkes filter added weight and drag to the Spitfire Vs that is what affected the performance.
The filters on the 109s were more compact and fit on the actual airscoop itself.
-
I just know there's precedent of filters constricting airflow to the point of performance degradation in tanks, and aircraft engines, being tuned for much higher power and being run much harder would likely be more adversely affected.
-
There's even a bigger precedent for sand. ;)
None of the aircraft I ever worked on needed tropical filters so I really couldn't say. The only prop planes I worked on had Continental reciprocating engines. I do know hot weather affected the performance of our A-10s during the Arizona summers. If you looked at an F-111 wrong that caused all kinds of problems.

If we had a dessert map (which others and myself have ask for) the filter would make since. Also we could use the dessert skins. Also, if we had a winter map, we could use the winter skins and perhaps mufflers (for the planes and our selves).

Sorry, couldn't resist. 3 am here and I can't find any sleep... ;)

The Hurricane MK IID has the desert filter added.
