Title: Collision film where only one plane takes damage
Post by: Drane on December 11, 2013, 06:10:30 AM
Wow!!! Here is example of flying in front of someone which results their being killed. Didn't do this on purpose. Was in shallow dive compressing and couldn't line up the shot. Film attached.

If I was in that 190 then the game would have killed me and let the F4U fly off unharmed.  :(

He should have moved then.

Here is a similar occurrence from a fight in the canyons.  This guy should have moved too.

Tried to make a GIF of this, but I failz.  So here's the full video (a whole 93 seconds long  )

This is quite a few months old, the 'real' action happens around 1:18-1:22 Make sure to slow down the time to :14 to go into "chase" view (on me) and switch the outside view around. For an interesting experience.

Play it at normal speed first in the cockpit to experience my dismay :lol

I see what you mean...but this one is due to lag and a warp?

He disappears and re-appears behind you

Then proceeds to fly through you

But you collided with him and your wing falls off???

Not really sure what caused it, if he had a bad connection or if I did. But it is very rare for me to have any 'warpers'.

Was definitely a shock to me though at the time.  But it's a great lesson for anyone on understanding the different perspectives of a collision between two players (or more).

Just wish I could have a film from his perspective at the time. To get a full picture.

The best way to explain the situation is to understand that given if there is only you and the Red guy then there are actually four planes being modeled at near the same time where lag is that separation in time.  There is your plane on your PC and the red guy's plane then there is your plane on the red guy's and his plane.  Your plane on your pc is in a slightly different place than your plane on Red's PC.  His plane on your PC is not in the same place his plane is on your PC.  Lag is what controls that separation.

yes I have both films from a fight Dolby and I had where, in his film, I flew right in front of him and he shot me, but in my film his bullets missed me and my wing fell off anyway. Luckily Dolby posted the film so I got a chance to compare.

It was really nice to be able to see both points of view.

It sounds like you have a crappy connection. Do you fly on wi-fi, or are you hard wired in?

hardwired with about 60 ping and a road runner cable modem that I manually reset every couple weeks.
