Stumbled across this one this morning. I remember watching the '98 film with Mathew Broderick and was wondering if they would film a sequel? At the end of that movie a baby Godzilla hatches from its egg. I loved Godzilla as a kid but this movie looks to me like another excuse from Hollywood for not creating something new and just re-filming old movies.

I thought it looked pretty cool imo. I don't mind them remaking action packed movies with better graphics, storylines, and effects, as long as they make a good film out of it.

:rock

I'll watch it! :D

Already 10x better than the other "new" one they made! :x

You are aware I hope that the '98 film with Mathew Broderick was itself a remake (and a poorly done one IMO) of an old movie right?
I hate when they remake classics. The only ones I've seen that are even remotely as good as the originals are the ones that pretty much redo the originals verbatim
There is a reason they are called "Classics"
-
So Mothra will go from a model to CG?
-
Beyond fantastic. From what I hear they are doing this remake right...with Big G being a unstoppable force of nature rather than a big lizard that eats fish and is misunderstood like that idiotic 90s remake.
I think I'm going to need to break-out the original "Gojira" from '54 and watch it again.

I used to love godzilla when I was a kid, I still prefer the old ones than the new ones. Just watched godzilla vs space godzilla this morning :aok :lol

Life long Godzilla ( Toho Studios Only! ) fan as well as other kaiju here! I am very much looking forward to Godzilla 2014. I am probably the only one on this board who actually saw Godzilla 2000 in the theater! Also loving Pacific Rim and I can't wait for follow-on prequels of that new take on kaijus and big awesome robots. It brings back images for me of Ultraman fighting Pestar and Gabora.

an Ultraman movie I would really like to see, as long as it isnt butchered like hollywood likes to do
-
I also think the 1998 movies should have been called Iguanodon versus Ferris Beuller instead. :old:

No, I thought it wasn't too bad.
Nothing on the Japanese stuff though.
Godzilla vs King Ghidora. If you are looking for the best movie of the lot.

I thought it was a pretty fair forgery. It sure made the US military look like the Three Stooges. Too light hearted for my taste. Godzilla is a force of nature that is immense and lumbering like a slow moving category 4 hurricane. You don't fight it or bait it with fish. You take shelter and/or get the heck out of its way!

Heisenberg vs Godzilla? F**K YEAH!!!

It's worth a look at.

:devil This is my kind of thread. Love the new trailer but my favorite trailer is the San Diego Comic con teaser in '12. Originally this movie was supposed to be released in '13 but with changes with directors, writers and a court hearing (long story) they decided to released it on Godzilla's 60th birthday which is 2014. Anyway in the last seconds on the teaser trailer, you'll hear the dude who witnessed the test detonation of the H-bomb. You see the back of Godzilla and you hear "...I am became death; The destroyer of worlds." then you hear Godzilla roar. That, my friends, is Godzilla's nature.
Although I grew up watching Showa era films ('54 to '75?) I love the films from 1999 to '04. I like the suits from 1999 to 2003. The Final Wars film suit was eh ok. They made his brows too big where you can't see his eyes every well. And the fact the monster fights were *QUICK* like in seconds. The film had too much "matrix" feel to it too.
Oh to the member said about the Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah film... uhh which version? LOL :bolt:

I predict that by the end of the year, this movie will take its rightful place in my DVD collection along side of Pacific Rim, Cloverfield, Godzilla 2000, Godzilla 1985 and about 20 other kaiju films.
(and no ...I DO NOT now nor will I ever own a copy of the 1998 flop Iguanadon vs. Ferris Bueller)
