a pilot refuses to take off because he had no sandwiches on board only snacks.  just testing how lazy the ah posters are.

Pakistani Airline flight 711? Hmmmmmm..... nope. That doesn't sound odd at all. No one would punk the news channels like that. Again.

The pilot was balking at making a 20hr flight with only snacks for the passengers?

No.  Cruise speed over the ocean is usually Mach .80-.85.  Over land, air traffic controllers start to slow you down.  Mainly due to aircraft separation and such.
