I'll admit I have never been a huge fan of Hyundai, but I don't think their cars are terrible. Personally the last four door family sedan I drove that I liked was a 2011 Altima I had for a couple of weeks as a rental.

Not a huge fan of Korean made cars and their sub par Front Crossmembers that rust out early. But then again, it isn't my money.

I bought my wife a brand new fully loaded (except leather) 2012 Sonata SE Turbo and we love it. The GLS is the base model but it is still a nice car. For the money I couldn't find a better bang for the buck. $25k out the door with an extended warranty that covers the car bumper to bumper 10years/100,000miles, a maintenance plan that covers basic maintenance for the first 50k miles, and a free lifetime power train warranty from the dealer I bought it from. Granted that warranty is only good for however long the dealership is in business, but I don't plan on having the car long enough to worry about that anyway. Its been over a year and 15k miles since we bought the car and haven't had a single issue with it yet. It's a great car and if I had to do it over again I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. I think it was Cap that posted pictures of a hyundai that the front end rotted and fell off while driving. I am pretty sure thats what it was :headscratch: I like american cars but seems as though the foreign cars are more dependable these days :(

World is filled with corrosion protect companies, a sprayover will cost a few hundred bucks and will improve the sound insulation even a little.

It is also worth noting that Hyundai issued a recall to fix the corrosion issue on the previous generation of sonatas. As far as I know, there hasn't been any trouble with the new models....yet. I live in Florida so the road salt corrosion issue doesn't matter to me anyway. :aok

this is true, but end result is the same :( the chloride they put down these days here rot everything, regardless of what you try and do to stop it. any gm truck 2007 and older bumpers are rotted off, cab corners and rocker panels shot. One of my coworkers had his truck undercoated with some rubbery stuff and it still didnt stop the rot.

It would be nice if they showed the mileage, but for 9500, you could do worse.

Like others have said, there is that rust issue to consider with Hyundai, but if you aren't worried about that possibly happening in 10 years or so, it may or may not be a big deal to you.
So far as the car itself goes, for the price, that isn't too bad, for a 2 or 3 year old car in that class. If it was under 60k miles/100k km's, that would be a swell bonus IMO. Those Sonata's actually stack up fairly well against their competition, I've driven a rental just like that, and having not been in a Hyundai since a high school friend had one of the old Pony's, I was shocked at how far they had come.

If I was going to get a used car I'd start by looking at Honda. I've owned 2 (sold the civic when it got too small and got a minivan) and my Mom owned a civic that wouldn't die. She thought it was boring but it was so reliable she couldn't bring herself to get rid of it.
