Having the same problem with my Microsoft FFB2 as the last one the hat switches wearing out, problem is more than the switches are wearing out due to high use, the plastic hat part like the last one has actually physically worn down.
Is there any generic hat that could be grafted on to replace this? Maybe a CH part? How would you wire this? At the minute I have no views on my right side working and the left is starting to fail as well and using the mouse to see is a pain in the SA :D

Buttons can be found on the internet. Do some measurements on the buttons....size, layout and such and check electronic parts sites. As for the actual plastic hat itself, mix up some epoxy and let it harden up. Use a file to get it back to the right shape/size. A lot of trial and error goes into this but it can be done.

Hell's bells Perv already? You could make a fortune as an extreme product testing consultant.

Although pricy, a switch to Trackir solves a bad hat problem.

You could give this a try. Works well and is free. I got a bit of motion sickness but that varies between individual.
