Title: General computer question - not AH
Post by: mthrockmor on January 09, 2014, 09:47:49 AM
I think this is the right place since the technical questions are related to game play.

For what ever the cursor on my computer bounces all over the place. As an example, I'll place the cursor in the search window and it will disappear several times. I have to constantly move the mouse there, click it again to place the flashing cursor that allows me to type in the window, ofter four or five times. This happens with emails, etc.

Also, when I am clicking one click will frequently register as two clicks. An example, I am deleting emails, I click once and two emails will disappear.

This is only happening in my Exlorer browser. I use Windows 7. Not in other programs. I have gone into the program and changed the sensitivity/speed of the mouse clicker, which did not resolve the problem. I have also run a couple malware programs and the Microsoft Security Essentials say it is all clear, no harmful bugs in the system.

Any idea on what I can do? Thanks in advance!

Well I'd be inclined to say it was some kind of interference...but having re-read your intial post the statement that it only appears to impact Internet Explorer potentially throws that out the window.  Are you sure you don't see similar behavior when using the Windows Explorer to browse disks / folders / files?  How about other browsers, if you have one installed, like Chrome or Firefox?  Any issues with them?

I have Firefox, no issues there.

This may sound silly, but try a fresh battery in the mouse.

Also, they seemed to have updated MSIE to v11 and that has caused havoc with MS Outlook.  I would suspect MSIE is the culprit.

Good luck

I agree changing the battery, if anything just to eliminate that as the problem, is a good idea.

I've never seen or heard of anything causing that behavior specifically with one application in Windows....that is odd.  :headscratch:

I had a mouse issue on a Win 7 HP laptop and the mouse would go crazy out of control. I would reboot and it was ok. Happened a few times but haven't had it happen in over a year now. Not sure what I may have updated but followed the HP advisor that updated drivers. Maybe check for updated drivers for your mouse.

If it's IE only, try resetting it. Go to Control Panel->Internet Options->Advanced->Reset.

I have a faint feeling that I've read something about the newest IE having issues...

The surface your mouse is on has a large effect.

I have mine on a white desk surface.

Some mouses work and others do what original poster is describing.

I've seen crappy antiviruses do that sort of stuff, the cursor was jumping and flashing constantly as the AV was doing scans. Panda AV Enterprise did that for example. The other option is that you have malicious stuff running on the background. Perhaps some sort of browser hijacking attempt even.

we had issues with IE but not firefox, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and fixed all the problems we had.  Have you tried rkill to see if you have malware or anything?

Just did rKill, said it is clean.

I will look into removing and reinstalling IE. Thanks!

Before you do that, move your cell phone into another room.
