Title: Drip, Drip, Drip
Post by: BaldEagl on January 11, 2014, 01:00:03 PM
The woman in the condo above me's toilet wouldn't go down so she just kept flushing while it kept overflowing.   :headscratch:

I called the emergency weekend maintenance number once I located the dripping water sound.  The maint guy calls back and says the woman above me kept flushing the toilet so he said "Stop Flushing!".   :rofl

Fortunately it all dripped into my bathtub but maintenece is here now figuring out what to do with the saturated walls/floors/cielings.

Find the line and see about drilling/tapping in a valve to an air compressor.

Next time she goes flush flush to an overflowing toilet, crack open a butterfly valve with about 140psi ofcompressed air.  :)

Was she stoned?  I had that happen to me thanks to some stoners above me in a college apartment at Purdue one time.  I came home from grocery shopping to a waterfall in my living room.  I busted into their apartment and turned off the water, they were too stoned to even attempt to stop it or care.  They got evicted and I didn't renew my lease when it was up, the rent turned out to actually be too low in that case.

Either have them (maintenance folks) hire a professional drying company.....or have them remove the wet building materials.
Sorry for the headaches...not fun

Heh true. Although to my knowledge I've never had sewage soaked hydro damage apartments are just nasty.

If you live in an expensive building, its going to be filled with grannies watching every step you take. If you live in a cheap one you're going to have crime, addicts etc. hovering around.

I prefer to have my nearest neighbor out of sight.

This is a Sr (50+) 13 floor condo building.  The woman who did this came down to appologize yesterday while the maintenence guy was here.  I'd guess she's in her 70's or early 80's so probably wasn't stoned.

The maintenece guy cut open the hallway walls on my floor and her floor above me, pulled out the sound insulation and set high velocity turbo fans blowing through the wall/floor/cieling cavities for the weekend.  He'll be back Monday to take additional moisture readings and see if the pros have to come in.  I hope they don't have to tear my bathroom apart.
