When I use vox to transmit a message, could the message identifier, normally displayed in the upper right corner of recipient screens, include an announcement of my location using map coordinates?
And could something similar be done for text transmissions?

when somebody is on vox his location on the clipboard is highlighter for 2 or 3 seconds.

Not for scenarios, but it might be handy for the MA.

I agree the ability to disable this would be important for scenarios.

I don't really understand the OP I guess...as range vox is only a short range transmission and as semp said the transmission is highlighted on the clipboard, except with gvs...you have to be close to hear a range vox transmission...and if it is squad vox or channel it highlights those as well no matter how far away they are

I don't think it would be that stellar of an improvement to vox, but it would be kind of handy for the text buffer when you get random guy 13 saying 'buffs at 12k' or NOE incoming. Some people actually give a location, plenty don't when they call stuff out.

Perhaps a dot command ".where PLAYERNAME" would give you a sector number? (same country only of course), might narrow it down a bit.

I think I understand it, he wants when someone keys up to show their name and I guess AH map coordinates like 5,3.. how precise he didn't specify.. 5,3,5? 5,3,5,7? so..
while I'm talking it would should "kvuo75 (5,3,5)" or something along those lines.
it's a perfectly fine wish, just showing same info already available in a different manner.
case could be made for showing people's locations in text too. but that might get cluttered.

You already have a good indicator on your clipboard map.
As for scenarios, isn't that part of the re-enactment to provide location youself?

yes, that is what I have in mind. It would help me localize people even if my clipboard is closed, or zoomed in on a different area.

only way to locate people is with the clipboard open.

Where it would be handy is for those odd times when one doesn't have their clipboard open and someone communicates with you in some fashion.

perhaps you need to refine your wish a bit more.
for example in middle of a furball with both range and squad vox, with names changing to fast it will be hard to accurately see who is the one asking for help. and the location given is not as accurately as if you had the clipboard open. for example grid 7,7,8 covers a lot of real state. if there's a single friendly con, not a big deal but with multiple cons on the clipboard you arent sure who it was unless you ask again. then his name will be highlighted in the clipboard. which brings up the original fix for it. if you arent sure then ask.
if somebody is calling an noe then his location is irrelevant, what is important is the location of the noe. for example I have called noe missions even though i was sectors away in another location. somebody else on squad vox mentioned and also asked to tell everybody as he was busy fighting. if it shows my location then people may get confused just like using the command .goto semp as it may send you to the wrong field.
your wish does look like a good wish. but if you really think about it, it may confused more rather than help in a lot of situations. I think it would be better if you just ask to repeat the info. I do it all the time in middle of furball when I am not sure of the location of the player asking for help. with the name highlighted I know exactly who it is.
