Title: Question about a USB headset staying on all the time.
Post by: Beefcake on January 14, 2014, 03:35:47 PM
Hey guys, I recently purchased a new headset which uses USB power to run it's amp and control box. My question is when I cut the computer off the headset remains on and is still drawing power from the USB port. Could this damage the power supply or will it not hurt anything to leave it plugged in?

I have a headset that uses USB for supplemental power and as long as the motherboard can get power from the psu the lights on the headset stay on. Personally, I kill the power from the power strip when I turn the rig off because the lights keep me awake at night, but I don't think that it will do any damage leaving it on.

As I understand it, not all motherboards leave the power to USB devices on shut down. However mine does and all the lights on My CH gear change from the green to orange leds. Certainly no problems with the gear that has been plugged in like this for years!
