In regards to the new de-centralization of the strats and supply lines (trains...). I wanted to ask for convoys on ocean maps between islands. They will be employed in a manner similar to this, 2 ships one corvette escort to run supply missions between islands in a connecting fashion. You disrupt one link u disrupt the chain. Now I see the need for a port on each island and they convoys to roam between said ports. Obviously more ports does not mean more cvs, keep that the same but have them rotate the start position of the boats each time the map comes around.
Just a few ideas I thought of but may not be right for the game, do what u guys do best and discuss this like it or hate it I look forward to the discussion.

:airplane: +1! Good idea!

I would love to see ship convoys but it would require an additional alternate resupply system.
A ship convoy system could be designed to use the total number of ships in the pipeline instead of the number of ships to arrive at the port. If a convoy of ten ships is wiped out, then it would respawn at it's start point on the 10 minute clock and head for it's destination again. The server checks the status of the convoy every ten minutes and counts the surviving ships. If they're all alive, then the base receives all it's resupply, if not, then it's resupply is reduced.
To prevent gaming the system by leaving a single ship in the convoy, thus reducing the resupplies over long periods, all destroyed ships are reset at the surviving ship location on the ten minute resupply mark. Thus, a convoy suddenly has 1 to 9 replacement ships fading into existence. (btw, a submarine would have nine new targets.)
A ship convoy of this type, traveling 20 miles would take 2 hrs to reach it's destination.

+1 for this idea..
This as been requested many time..

Supply ships, long range truck convoy's and trains???
Oh hell yes! To run true interdiction runs would be awesome. :rock
The addition of rail yards, supply ports and depots could further add to the overall supply system and provide more targets to hit for bombers and ground attack planes. Trains already have AA and adding AA vehicles to truck convoy's would mean it wouldn't be without some token defense of their own. :x

interesting idea, i like the 10 minutes spawn times. Now you just need to find the convoy and attack it in support of a base attack :joystick:

That writeup was designed to match the current system as much as possible. All trucks, trains and barges, cycle at 10 minutes. They spawn and run to the end of their "tracks" in 10 minutes. Trains on a 10 mile track run at 1 mile per minute or 60 mph. Barges on a 2 mile track run at over 10 mph.
Currently, that same 20 mile track I used in my example would have ships traveling at 120 mph unless an alternate system were in place.

This isn't a new idea. I have been wanting to add this, but other things are ahead on the list.

look forward to it and all the effort on this game is much appreciated :salute

+1 on idea; execution might need some more thought and fleshing out, but I'm all for deepening the strategic and operational elements of the game. :salute. I'm thinking you could make it similar to other strat targets. Let's say we have a map where the country strat is on one main island, and convoys could connect the main strat island/continent to remote island groups or subcontinents. A single convoy would service each subcontinent/island-group and would travel back and forth. Percent damage to the convoy would have the same effect on bases at the end of this supply chain as damaging the strat target itself (would recommend each convoy have tankers, troop transports, and ammo ships). Damage to both strat and convoys would be additive, but could not result in a negative percent status. As suggested above, destroyed ships would respawn with the convoy, not back at port (gamey, but so is the strat system). Basically, they'd be a moving strat target.

One additional point.
I'd like the ship convoys to be able to go from port to port. Currently that would throws the error, "There is a closer base to track #" or something like that.
