Liberty Belle.
Surprises me that she is not in game yet.
The bird herself was in flying condition and was at airshows pretty much all around until June 13th at around 10 AM, 2011. Then she reportedly had a fire in the engines and went down into a corn field. Nobody on board was lost, but the relic of WWII was lost herself. A sad story. :cry

It is an aircraft that never existed during WWII.

Seeing the pictures of it burning broke my heart.
Is that an authentic scheme based on a WWII airplane or is it pseudo like "Texas Raiders" or "Sentimental Journey"?

The combat Liberty Belles were commemorated by two B-17s which used the name, with one still remaining as a static display: Miss Liberty Belle (44-83690) is displayed at the Grissom Air Museum. The Liberty Foundation flew a composite B-17 named Liberty Belle (constructed from two damaged aircraft (non-combat 44-85734 and the rear part of 44-85813)) as a warbird from 2004 until 2011, when it was destroyed in a fire after an emergency landing.

It looks like the same sort of scheme as the "Marine's Dream" Corsair. It starts with a historical noseart, and then more or less makes up the rest while not even making the art itself accurate.
Here's one of the historical Liberty Belles:

Still, would be nice to have the skin as a token of remembrance for the wonderful bird.

I wish we could get some well known warbird schemes in here. Old Red Nose, Texas Raiders, Sentimental Journey, Yellow Rose, etc..
We don't hold to historicity regarding kills and assists so schemes could be loosened up a tad.

The modern day "Sentimental Journey" painted on the B17G also was not flown in WWII. We do have a 457th BG skin in game that is a well skinned plane, IMO. Especially in this commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlFD0Zyl_f0

I am aware of that. Hence my comment that it would be nice to see some non-historic schemes of famous warbirds in certain instances. Just label them CAF or whatever.
