Title: ATC C-47A
Post by: Greebo on January 26, 2014, 10:13:27 AM: This probably isn't going to be the most popular goon skin in the MA and doesn't have much of a role for scenarios either, but I like doing bare metal. :D

Towards the end of the war many C-47As were left in bare metal and were used by the USAAF's Air Transport Command to ferry personnel and goods around well behind the front line. This particular aircraft was photographed at Orly Airport in Paris in early 1945.

Post by: Vraciu on January 26, 2014, 01:43:42 PM: Love it. Reminds me of the Goon in John Wayne's "Island in the Sky" movie. They messed that up with post-war stars and bars but still a great flick. Haven't read the book yet Perhaps that should be on my list this year...

but I do have one question the USAF it self was not founded until September 18, 1947 then who can that be part of that unit if it is USAAF's Air Transport Command?

Do you mean the AAF ferry command?

Hornet, the Air Transport Command was formed in June 1942 to coordinate the various military and civilian organisations involved in the ferrying of aircraft and also the air transport of personnel and freight from the US to the various fronts. Post by: Greebo on April 26, 2014, 02:51:59 AM: This skin has been in the game for a while now. However it is still not on the skins download page, which hasn't been updated in ages. So you can only get it if you auto-download all the skins in the game.
