I just upgraded to FIOS Quantum to see if I would notice a difference in my day to day computing. According to speedtest.net my numbers are great. Now I have a month to try it out to see if it really makes a difference over my previous 15/5mbps connection. How fast is your internet? speedtest.net

I haven't tested in the last few weeks... But it normally averages 35 to 38+ Mbps download and 5+ Mbps upload...
I've used speedtest.net before... but prefer a couple of different other sites...
I'm busy at the moment, but will repost the links again later ( I've posted them back severalor more years ago )
I'm on Time Warner Cable, and only pay for the "up to 20.00 Mbps" package, so I can't complain..
btw, are you still not flying in-game? I have not even unboxed what you sent me... Just a headsup incase you get that severe itch to come back

Houston, SoftLayer Tech. Comcast and University were much poorer.
Tokyo, World's Fastest Indian, again much faster than Alocac
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/3260790795.png)
My speed is rated to 20(24?)/2 and at the time of testing I was downloading updates to a fresh Vista install on another computer, my daughter surfing on a third one.
FWIW some 5 megs of download speed per user should be sufficient even for a HD movie stream, or at least that's what my former ISP helpdesk told me.

Its a little slower then I used to have, but I am saving $60 a month :aok

Mine is slightly less than yours Eagle. :cry I miss my cable internet. When I moved in with my woman, she had AT&T DSL, which we kept. Ya get what ya pay for I guess.

I wouldn't have posted that, to you, if I wasn't being serious..... just PM me when and if your interested.... exact same way we did it the first time around....
I'll keep em boxed up for you, and out of my PC room or Bedroom, to keep the smoke smell off of them best I can.....
Drano and I think it was Golfer, both found out how much I really smoke.. LOL.. They made sure to let me know when they received stuff I sent them.....so I been remedying that the best I can...
cheers

So they told me too when I had a 6Mbit connection. That meant that I could choose between watching TV or do stuff online - but forget about doing both at the same time. The IP TV absolutely raped online game performance which is why I simply unplugged the stupid thing. I'm pretty sure that even on a fast connection the constant stream from the IP TV will mess up the games.

Read it and weep although to be fair I am connected by LAN at the moment.

But I have seen as much as 170 Mb/s wirelessly.

That's the problem with juveniles these days... They want everything to happen fast or even faster, quick or quicker. When I was young the big guys taught me that girls don't like fast or quick boys. I don't believe women have changed that much... :old:

How the hell does Ireland have that much bandwidth available to give you 205mb/s? Or are you paying out the arse for it?
-
The potato famine wiped most of them out....

Now for some real wailing and gnashing of teeth, people should post their stats pointing to a server in or around Austin. :devil
Wiley.

No I'm not overpaying. It's UPC, they use their own coaxial network. I have it bundled with TV and phone. I pay €80 a month but that's their top end package. I could have opted for their cheaper offers. But I thought: 'What the hell go for it.'

With a little help from your lot, Swoop :( In any case those of us here now are the survivors. The weak links died or emigrated. Survival of the fittest.
-
Exactly.
With only 300 people left in Ireland, there's plenty of bandwidth to spare....now every time you meet an Englishman you can thank him profusely for your extra fast internet. :D
;)

I meet one all the time. He's over every bloody day using my broadband and drinking my coffee. The English eh? Always invading other people's space! :lol He does pay in beer though, that's something.

Since we bought a new building last year and moved, work decided to upgrade service. IIRC, our old place ran between 1 and 4 MB so this is a much needed improvement.

Comcast is the provider. We pay 55 a month for 100MB/S download speed and 5-10 MB/S upload speed.
So far no issues for almost 5 years. :)
