Hey guys,
I was reading the forums last week and came across a post where someone mentioned that one of the major Aces High changes was a change in acceleration (or lowering of speed loss during turns, or something to that effect), a good while back, to allow turn fighters to be more competitive against BnZ aircraft. It was listed under a thread outlining some of the more positive changes the game has went through over the years. It was very clearly stated in the post, but now I can't find it. I'm not sure if this adjustment was in AH1 or AH2, or both.
My questions are:
1) Is this true and, if so,
2) Is this still the case?
3) if it is still the case, what was the actual adjustment and why was this adjustment needed if the flight model is based on actual flight physics?
Thanks... and sorry for not being able to reference the original post.

There have been a few flight model changes in AH's life time but I've never recalled any that were done to make 'turn fighters more competitive'.
ack-ack

That and HTC hasn't done that type of gameplay balancing. They're not Wargaming.

It wasn't to make them more competitive as it was a change (again, from memory) that no one was turning because the speed loss was such that once you turned hard in pretty much any plane, you were at a significant speed disadvantage. Ergo, the game seemed to favor higher-speed BnZers.

Right, hence my question. I'm still searching for the post, so I'll link it if I can find it.

The game only favors high speed BnZers when they are BnZ'ing. With your logic then HTC would make the turn fighters better at BnZ'ing to make them more competetive and slow climbers changed to climb faster to make them more competetive. I think you may be missing the point with this line of thought. The planes handle the way they do because that is what they did in RL. HTC does change the modeling to reflect real world performance if past modeling errors need fixing.

The only time we change a flight model is if it does not match its historical counterpart.

It was a flight model error that was fixed, if I recall correctly, in v1.03, so saying some time ago is putting it mildly. The change wasn't made the make turners more competitive with BnZ, it was made because the model was wrong. It had the effect of making turners more competitive, but that was not its purpose.

he's just asking if it was done. not that it should be done :salute.

some flight models won from the change like the 109s, some lost, like the 190.

AH1 version 4 is wbere it changed. Before u could actually run a spitfire out of E :old:

I suspect you're thinking of a different change, such as the flap modeling change where Bf109s and F4Us scored big time and others like the P-51 lost.

I had wondered if there was some sort of change.
Taking off from a CV I get more drop at the end of the deck seems like. I thought it is more realistic from the old film footage I have seen over the years. My heavy P47D last night needed every inch of the runway. If there was some sort of change, it is more interesting.

No changes in regard to acceleration....
You should have no trouble getting an F4U-1D off of a CV with 2k in bombs, rockets and 100% fuel. Simply use full flaps and WEP. Pull up the gear as soon as you clear the deck. If you want some good practice, leave the gear down, drop the hook, turn into the pattern and land it with that load.

Widewing, I noticed the change on the F4U1A with 3/4s fuel with no ords. The Seafire seems to be the same.
I would not swear there is change. Just an observation over the last several days that goes with the OP's post.
If nobody else has noticed a change then it must be just me.

They are talking about a change made years ago.

I had noticed a change before the OP's post and had thought about posting a similar inquiry to the forum.

If you would have played with 1.0 you'd know that the change was like day and night. The beta and post beta planes were like flying bricks. You found yourself floating down a couple of yanks later.

What makes you think that?

Name one flight model change in AH that was done for 'game balance'.
