Post by: ink on February 04, 2014, 05:05:56 PM
the newest member of the family.....

Our Oldest daughter gave her to us at 7 weeks...I guess the mom wasn't feeding her, she was the runt of the litter and supposed to be a full American Pitbull Terrier, but I highly doubt she is, personally I think she is American Staffordshire terrier....she is getting huge and she is much smaller then her brothers and sisters....

extremely smart dog.....

strange having a pup again...its been 11 years since we had our last APBT

the day we got her

Ink, she is a cutey!! she has a nice head and clear eyes, both good signs!

Nef,I hope you have a well fenced yard!  I have never owned a Shiba, but I've heard tales off them,Harry Houdini has nothing on a Shiba. If they cant go under the fence they will go over it,doesnt matter how high they find a way!

I've read there are headstrong but extremely inteligent, they were bred to hunt on their own and bring the prey home,or they might end up in the pot...... :noid

Like any high prey drive dog you need to wear them out or you will be unhappy with your dog because they will find a way to tire themselves out and it usually isnt a good thing!  I had a dog that tried his hand at reconstructing the house, really he punched holes in the walls and everything, turns out there were squirrels in the walls.

Both are great looking dogs, just remember a tired dog is a good dog!

great dogs, everyone. I love mine a bunch. He's gettin old and I'm starting to fear "that time". Don't know that I'll be able to emotionally afford another one. Treat your canince friends well, there's a reason that dog is God spelled backwards.

It is always tough saying goodbye to a dog but I think after a few weeks the best therapy would be to go to the local pound and rescue another dog in need. It helped me.

My wife used to like to show off Blitz when he was a puppy so she dragged me to some art fair under the pretense to view the art, which we both like. But the real caper she was planning, as the maternal instinct demands, is toy show off her baby to the world. Man we couldnt get 10' thru that crowd of artsy/fartsy yuppies without someone wanting to pet the puppie.(http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr149/Rich46yo/Blitz_zps4ad44e44.jpg)

Everybody loves a puppy.

That video is from 2010, girl is mentally disturbed, its in Romania, and none of the puppies died due to an old woman standing down river picking out the dogs.

I didn't hear that...... but no way were those puppies saved that was big arse river.....very fast flowing....I highly doubt they were able to save them......

and I agree she was mentally disturbed to be doing that.

thats how I remember it from back then, I'm guessing you saw it on Facebook, as it makes its rounds like once a year.. here is the link

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/girl-throwing-puppies-river-video-bosnia-won-face-charges-report-article-1.186803

and I was wrong, it was Bosnia not Romania, apparently they did die too

""The puppies that the old woman was with were completely different ones to those thrown into the river in the video. The puppies would never have survived"

sorry hadn't thought about this in like 4 years haha

Gawd you had to go remind my of my Cayenne. The best hunting dog I ever owned and sired by this guy http://www.buschvizslas.com/askim.htm I met my wife due to Caye. I saw him as a 6 mos old pup pointing a pigeon in the park while walking my Lab. I knew at first glance he was a winner. I introduced myself to his owner, a Gal who bought a vizsla from a famous line cause she wanted a dog to jog with. I ended up getting a hunting dog and a wife at the same time. It was a period of my life where I had all kinds of places to hunt and time to hunt with him and I guided at a pheasant club. Boy was he something. Vizsla's are wonderful dogs.

Let's move away from videos about crazy people drowning puppies?

Here's my little girl doing what she always does when she greets me at the door when I get home from work.  She doesn't chew the shoes, she hordes them under the dining room table.

I firmly assert that Vizslas are the best dog breed in the world. They're good at what they do, and make quite possibly the best family pets of any dog in the world.

Smart as hell, too. Our old dog Amber would open up the gate, use the picnic table to help her climb the fence. She even figured out the latches on the cupboard doors.

You will probably notice a vizsla will not tolerate a woman or child being hit or threatened. ANY woman or child not just his packs. I remember rough housing with my kid and Caye grabbed my arm a few times cause he didnt approve. I found out from the President of the Vizsla club that they protect ANY woman or child.

They are one of the oldest breeds and considered very noble. They are great watch dogs and I couldnt imagine a better hunter/protector. Caye was a big one, going at 70lbs, and he wouldnt back down from any dog.

We picked up our puppy today

Really cute.  Gonna be really big too!  A woman had a full grown adult male at a park I used to walk my dog in.  It was really friendly and if it liked you would come over and lean on you.  But he'd almost knock you over if you weren't prepared for him.

 HL,

the white comes from a recessive gene, both the lab and retriver have a white recessive and it was able to express itself in the hybred!

If you bred your dog back to a "black" lab or "golden" retriver chances are you wouldnt see another "white" in the litter.  Your dog would be considered a phenotype!

These "phenoes" are usually very sound and healthy animals, however their pups may suffer from all sorts of nasty things that normally wouldnt be seen in a "pure" strain.

They are important as all the breeds were developed from this type of breeding but it can involve plenty of trial and error and many pups that must be put down!
