Title: My Facebook Movie
Post by: ozrocker on February 04, 2014, 05:57:21 PM
In celebrating Facebooks 10 year Anniversary, they've
put together a movie with my postings, pictures etc.
If you have a page, check yours out.
I thought mine was pretty cool.
Shows my pics of when I was a teen, my Grandkids, other pics I've posted
and me and my eldest Daughter at her Wedding last September.
Here's a link to mine :)

https://www.facebook.com/lookback

Hope link works.                                                                                                                                           Oz

That link goes to whoever is logged in, not to yours specifically.  I dunno that anyone should post their profile link publicly besides.

I did this as well but when I click your link it plays mine.  It is pretty cool though when you see the end result.

is no one even slightly concerned at the big brother connotations of facebook?

The genius of the world today is that we are in a worse state than Orwell predicted and yet they managed to get us to do it voluntarily.

Facebook is stupid. They tried to bring people together but i thin they did the opposite. As far as big brother goes why do you care? You are not important.

Come on now.  That is not even close to the truth.  Have you read "1984"?  I understand we are certainly more "packaged", "prodded, "corralled, "and "scrutinized" more then any point in history, but we aren't anywhere near "1984".

The consequences of that scrutiny don't generally come from the government, but if you have a reason to care about your public image it can go downhill right quickly over some monumentally minor and stupid things.

you have a smart phone or a phone with gps, how about a "smart" tv? amusingly people are adamant that they be allowed to get as close to the world depicted in that novel as possible...the police state is coming bud.

That may be so, it may be coming but it is not here yet as depicted by Orwell.  It is not even close.

as far as orwell's exact depiction, we're probably 40-50 years out. but it is far closer than you want to believe...inter-connectivity. and people are buying into it. take a look at time warner intelligent home, adt pulse, netgear vuezone, and the plethora of other systems.

I have read it, of course. The only thing missing is the thought police.

I did not say I was. That doesn't mean that the principle changes. I do not care, because I don't use facebook.

In a way, the thought police are already here and have been for years.  There is no need for it to be officially established, with all the willing volunteers in the media and general public.  Make a public statement that in any way can be construed as contrary to the current "progressive" view of right and wrong and then either be forced to apologize profusely or be demonized, unemployed and blacklisted.
