Title: Voice actors needed.
Post by: jimson on February 10, 2014, 08:57:16 AM
For staged mission briefings, radio chatter etc. All WW2 languages/accents wanted. but especially British and American.

I would send you a script and you send me back a .wav file.

You recieve no pay and no benefits but if you like your own voice, (I can't stand the sound of mine) you get a legacy of others possibly hearing it for years to come.

If you think you can sound like a Colonel giving a mission briefing or a young pilot speaking on the radio, pm me or respond here.

In real life, I sound just like Sean Connery but on AH, sound like Ferris Bueller with a head cold.

Exhibit A (in real life): "Be careful Ryan, what you shoot at.  Most things in here don't react too well to bullets."

ExhibitB (in AH): "She got a car, I got a computer.  How's that for being born under a bad sign?"

See what I mean?  :furious

I prefer:  "It reminds me of the heady days of Sputnik and Yuri Gagarin, when the world trembled at the sound of a our Rockets. Well they will tremble again at the sound of our silence."

LOL, Still I need more than one option.

that depends Jim what you want to use them for?

They are for staged missions.

I would like to recreate sound clips like this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQYAG_RMPG0&feature=youtu.be

I don't want to use actual movie sound tracks etc due to copyright issues, in case some of them later find their way into an AH boxed game or something, plus I need them tailored to the missions I am building.

I can use computer generated voice for languages other than English because the majority of the folks here wouldn't recognize improper voice inflections etc in German or Japanese, however I would prefer to have things correct for international players as well,

Computer generated English in either British or American accent just sounds lousy.

Did radio for 30+ years, same for voice acting.  Many, many local USA accents.  Have home studio and can send just about any audio file you need.

Clark Gable WAS in the film "The Thousand Plane Raid" as a high ranking officer organizing the raid...so it's already been done.

Good answer.  Slim Pickens (the "1941" accent is a piece of cake, especially with the mispronunciations).  Personally, I'd prefer my Sam Kennison immitaion for the briefing officer.

I can confirm it's a good program. I downloaded it a month or two ago and it's pretty impressive. I'll never use all its features.

I can also confirm Audacity is a good program. I use it for all of my commentaries in my videos. I love that it has a noise removal feature to get rid of background noise and white noise.  :aok

I'm in for a script.

Slight Southern draw though a great command voice, fine tuned over the past two decades of negotiation, command & control.

Thanks fellas, I am recieving plenty of useful files. If I happen not to use yours, that doesn't mean it wasn't good, it just means that I want to have several different voices and would like to be able to call on you for others.

Will send more scripts out shortly.
