Title: Which Country Number Am I?
Post by: Mongoose on February 17, 2014, 10:34:33 AM
As the maps rotate, Rooks may be country 3 on this map, and country 2 on the next map.  I would like a dot command, or something on the clipboard, which would tell me which team is which country on today's map.

Until then, go to Arena Setup, Destroy Objects and select Country Objects. It will then tell you the current numbers.

You might already know that, but I'm sure many others don't  :old:

Bishop is Country 1
Knight is Country 2
Rook is Country 3

If you use the dot command ".country 1" you will jump to the Bishops. ".country 2" will get you onto Knights, and ".country 3" will jump to Rooks. I don't know how they are assigned to territory on the map, other than how the bases were assigned by the terrain maker or by using the Country Reset function in Arena Settings (only doable by HTC in the main arenas).

That's only valid for changing team, but not in the context of querying strat downtimes. That is depending entirely on the teams current position on map, i.e. the 'default' setup on map creation.

After reading your post, it still took me awhile to understand how that worked. I doubt more then an handful of people have discovered it.

It took me quite a while myself to figure that out instead of doing trial&error queries on the map  :bhead

For everyone still not sure what I'm talking about, when you go to Arena Setup / Objects / Destroy Objects, this page will appear on the clipboard:

Select your country and you will see the country code in the object list.

Why? I have a feeling you are trying to implement a solution for something you want. Instead of asking what you want.

Most likely for checking downtimes on strat targets.

You need the current country number to query the city/factory/HQ downtimes

You would have to use .dt c01amf or c02amf or c03amf do query for ammunition factory downtimes depending on map and current map position of your country. It's very confusing.

It is very confusing.  I believe HiTech once said that he didn't want button pushing for the sake of "added realism", or something to that effect.  If we are allowed to see the downtimes of every object, why does it have to be so complicated; ie: button pushing?

A better way of listing them would be to use existing clipboard maps that are modified so that you can mouse click on a particular object to find out its status.  Instead of ".dt 34568abcdefg".

On second thought, it would be even better if there was no way to know enemy object status at all.

It would be alot better just to right click the  base on the map and have the down times there under the the things that are down ...simple ....no remembering all this dot stuff letters rigamarole. Just pull up map right click, base info and downtime would be there.

Agree. the down time dot commands are gamey.

It's pretty easy to figure out which country is #1, 2, or 3. Look to the center field near HQ. I realize not every map has a Field 1, 2, or 3, but doing this you will get the hang of it rather quickly with just a little bit of thought.

While you might think the .dt command is gamey it really helps people play the game in an environment where players seldom give a straight answer to valid questions.

I would just change a mapping so C01 is bish, C02  knights, C03 rooks no matter what the country order is.

+1 !!!!!!! Only players within their own country can see down times.

(I know this won't completely stop shades etc from obtaining this information, but it would be much more difficult to plan the perfectly timed bomb drops to destroy an object which is coming online while bombs are already in the air falling...)

If I am checking downtime on headquarters, or one of the factories, I have to first figure out which country my team is on this particular map.
