Title: DC Boost keeps resetting
Post by: molybdenum on February 21, 2014, 08:17:39 PM
It's quite annoying, and has been happening for a couple of weeks now: suddenly squaddies and locals can't hear me and it's because my DC Boost has reset at a lower audio level. It happens seemingly at random, but frequently--rarely do I go more than half an hour before I have to go back into options/voice and pull that toggle over to the right again.
Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

I have had this problem for years and just deal with it, I've now developed a habit where every time I go to say something on the mic, I hit the clipboard, go to voice and check the slider on the DC Boost, normally its down at minimum and no one can hear me. Not sure why that setting never stays put.
It is super annoying.

Was just thinking that it could have something to do with alt-tabbing out of AH.
Unless I am in combat I am pretty much always alt-tabbed doing something else until I get to where I'm going.

Do you have mic boost selected in pc sound card settings?
If I remember right, the boost in game does not function until mic level is at full.
Maybe there is some type of conflict happening between pc sound settings and games.?????????????
Try matching, try disabling pc boost.......................
Just a thought.

That setting is a Windows setting we just put another picture over.  If it is being reset, it is being reset by another application, or by Windows, or by some other sound control software.

Okay, so how might I make the problem go away?

Find the application that is changing it.

It is something that has been added to the computer as the base installation of Windows does not change it.

If the setting reverts each time you start the game, then the game may not be able to save the setting due to some security software or anti-xxxx software installed on the computer.  This could happen with Norton or McAfee.

I use an app that lets me switch quickly between head phones and speakers. Its called "Win 7 audio switcher" or something like that. It too changes the boost on my mic but I think your on board recording/properties/advanced should have a few boxes you can check to "allow applications to take exclusive control" and "give exclusive mode applications priority". So check these.

Anyway I never seem to have a problem talking in the game. Even when my Mic/record resets.
