Ended up with a nasty ICE virus. Wouldnt let me to anything even in safe mode
Anyway. Only lost one of 3 partitions on my HD when I had to reformat and then reinstall windows.
Everything is up and running cept I can only get onboard sound and cant get my old soundblaster card to work.
Tried disabling onboard (realtech)sound and installing drivers. It shows the soundblaster card there. But no sound comes out.
Dealt with this once before and I dont remember what the fix is.
Anyone?

Power down your system.
Turn off the switch on the PSU.
Unplug the PSU cord.
Ground yourself to the case.
Remove the Sound Blaster card.
Count to 45.
Insert card.
Plug in PSU cord.
Turn PSU switch on.
You may have to reinstall the drivers.

Tried that already too.
Thanks though

In that case go to the Control Panel Sound applet. On the playback tab make sure that the Sound Blaster is set as the default device. Do the same if you are using it for the mic input under the recording tab.

If you have a second PC, install the sound card in it and see if it works. My last two SB cards did the same thing at their time of death. Since I only use sound with my headset, I moved on to a USB Dolby 7.1 headset.
