My older brother won the British Unassisted Powerlifting Championships this weekend and is off to regain his world title in Dusseldorf
Three quarters of the lifters quit without even lifting after he opened with 205kg
He then had clean lifts for 212.5kg and 215kg.
Said he didn't want to go too mad as he's saving himself for the world record :uhoh

Ok, what is 'assisted' power lifting? I can see the competition to be fairly easy. Press a button and your hydraulic jack makes a world record

No joke. it is literally just that. Guys wear massively structured sprung vests that will support a huge amount of weight. Some as high as 80 kg.
So assisted powerlifters put on two or three and are able to lift obscene weights. Also unless the comp is specifically drug free a blind eye is turned to performance drug use. Hence the youtube vids of guys lifting 1000lbs and the like.
I too can lift over a metric ton. I employ a fork truck and can lift massive weights with my pinkie :)

I've met Danny in person we went around the R.A.F. Museum together. He's rather impressively built himself. I can only imagine what BIG brother looks like.

Yeah, but I meant which one(s). lol I see from the pic later on that he's benching.
I was wondering if he benched 205kg or cleaned 205kg. :)
That's a lot of damned weight. :aok

I was wondering the same thing myself! Usually it's a squat lift and you must lock your knees and hold it till the lights come on for a good lift.
It's a very impressive amount of weight not matter how it's lifted!
:salute

His first bench was 205, then 212.5 and finally 215kg. I think his world title lift was around 227 three years ago and was beaten by 1/2 kilo last year, so he wants it back :old:

Wish him luck from me and the family sir!! :aok :aok

That's awesome Danny, I wish him the best of British luck.
