Anyone here pledged or subscribed to this game pre-release and/or purchased a "ship"? Thoughts so far based on what you have seen?
I got to admit it looks pretty impressive. Chris Roberts is responsible for my wasting several months of my life on Wing Commander games....I can see this game has the potential for me to waste several YEARS of my life if it lives up to the hype. :lol

:noid I have a hornet waiting on the dogfight modual to come out, not sure on the timeline ya might wait till it comes out. Or you could take a look at this.
https://store.zaonce.net/elite-dangerous-alpha.html/ (https://store.zaonce.net/elite-dangerous-alpha.html/) you can also youtube Elite Dangerous there is some footage out there.

Yeah. I've been thinking about waiting as well. My understanding is Star Citizen will have a Newtonian flight model...which can be fun if done right but I've seen games where it's not been done well and ended up boring combat wise. :frown:
Thanks for the heads-up on the new Elite game...I've had my eye on it as well. :aok

I have a Freelancer in the hanger, not sure what Im going to do with it yet, missileboat or maybe electronic warfare ship not sure yet, will probably get a hornet with ingame currency aswell. I don't see SC being out anytime soon, and Dogfigting module probably mid of this year.

I'm concerned about how dogfighting can be interesting with no atmosphere, no hard deck, and microgravity (at best). That said, Wing Commander was awesome and I've already pledged for three ships. :cry :aok
We've got about a month until the Dogfighting Module comes out. That will be an interesting time on their forums, as a lot of people's illusions / delusions on how the game actually works will burst, especially those who don't know or can't accept what fly-by-wire means.

I have two accounts and four ships, God help me ;(
Going to be a while before we actually get to play properly, but I am hopeful that they will make a great game for us to enjoy *fingers crossed*

I have a Super Hornet waiting on the dogfight module which should be out mid April last I heard.

CR actually talked about the forces that will effect some of the flight model at 7:35 of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4OB9Yfo-0Q#t=474 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4OB9Yfo-0Q#t=474)

He also stated further down the road that atmospheric flight and more planet modelling would be incorporated.. cant wait. Watch a couple of the "10 for the chairman " episodes... they/he are incredibly ambitious. I'm going to start saving a little at a time to upgrade when its finished. Had to get new video card to run hangar module. should be fun!

I've watched every 10-4 episode, and most of the Wingman's Hangars as well. Unfortunately no Track IR support in the first edition of the Dogfighting Module.
Aces High has a lot more elements to combat flight than this space sim will have, even though this space sim will have a lot more elements than just about any previous space sim. I find it hard to believe, though I have hope, that there won't be a "best" loadout, or that X will always beat Y which will always beat Z which will always beat X. Aces High balance is far more interesting than that and has to do with skill. For example, how can you manage energy in any meaningful way with no hard deck and no gravity? Answer: There won't be energy management in Star Citizen. Instead you'll micro-manage your shields and power systems ala X-Wing and Tie Fighter. I just hope (and expect that) I'm missing something that will make the flying-combat part of the game more interesting, in the end.
