Title: Update of my chemo treatment and other things
Post by: Falcon on March 08, 2014, 05:11:23 PM
Hey guys,

Figured I would update you on the process of the chemo. First week went well although on the last day of my first chemo treatment round I was in bed most of the day. I was in bed most of the weekend as well. I was one tired Falcon.

I didn't get sick or nothing like that but I coughed up alot of phlegm (it was normal anyway, my allergies was acting up). I'll go to my next 5 day chemo on the 17th. Today I got my pony tail cut off and re-shaped my hair. It looks ok, the hair dresser cut it too short though. After that I visited a hobby shop next door that I used to go back then they had slot cars (GAWD I feel old  :old: ) and looked around. Brought back memories of trying to build models LOL. Saw a beautiful F-4E on display and I looked at my mother and said in ASL "I wish I could do that" and she patted my shoulder and said "I know son".

I remember building a large scaled model of VF-84's F-14D (by Revell.. I think) with my Step-dad (bless him, he was kind of a impatient person) and we had problems of the swing wing mechanism. After few days of troubleshooting, I told him to scrap it (and 29.95 down the drain) and I never bought a kit again. Thank god for diecast models :). I always like large scale models more than the 1/72 or the 1/48 scale (although my uncle and I did a very beautiful B-25 in that 1/48 scale when I was about 10 or 11) because of the level of detail. Anyway sorry for the modeling kit rant.

After that my mother & I went to the local mall where I went to Suncoast (FYE by different name). I bought 2 3d movies: Man of Steel and Gravity. I then headed to the Anime section, while I was going to there I saw they had Pacific Rim figures. They had the complete third wave set and I grabbed them all. While my mother was putting them on the empty cashier table, I was looking through the Anime section. I didn't see any series I wanted and when I wheeled toward the table, I saw it... the 18" figure of the mech Gypsy Danger on the table with a sales guy grinning. And yes I heard angels... shaddup :P. I was all giggly and guess what... I bought him as well. I just spent 250 dollars total LOL! Think that is a record for me ;). Shouldn't of bought the 18" though, I could get him for 89 online but I HAD THE FEVER MAN! LOL. Anyway I had to share this experience to you guys.

^^^ Yup that's the 18" Gipsy Danger. BAD bellybutton EH? They'll release an 18" KnifeHead Kaiju soon but I don't know if I'm going to get him or not, the asking price will be around 140 to 150.

So you're into mechas huh?  :aok

Are you a fan of the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe too?

Yup. I had all 3 PC games plus few add ons. Read few Battletech paperbacks back in the day. Was hoping the new Mechwarrior game had SP elements... Ahh well.

Title: Slight update
Post by: Falcon on March 12, 2014, 02:02:14 PM
Went to the doc for a check up yesterday and they tried to draw blood from my port. They couldn't. Actually this was the second time they couldn't get the port to draw out blood. So tomorrow I'm going in for a maintenance operation for my port. *sigh* and next week is my next 5 day chemo treatment.

Hey falcon. My wife had a port when she did her chemo. They had to flush it every time they needed to draw blood. Took a little time but it was far easier than trying to hit a vein.

I remember a lot more than 3 single player games. There was the original Mechwarrior back in the '80s, and after that there was Mechwarrior 2, Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries, Mechwarrior 3, Mechwarrior 4, Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries, Mech Commander and Mech Commander 2. Seems like you have some catching up to do!

Mech Commander 1&2 are tactical RTS games, and a lot of fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MQPWE_M_EM

You mean Living Legends? That was a very comprehensive multiplayer mod for Crysis. In many ways it is better than Mechwarrior Online.

Interesting. Frankly I don't really like MP games except for games like AH & War thunder (those games are kinda equalizer for my disability.). If I play games online like COD 4 and the like, my disability will interfere the enjoyment (IE not able to side step or use the ironsites quickly enough) so I tend to look for good sims/FPS' with good AI (Like Strike Fighters 2 and COD 4). Shame that Titanfall is MP Only because its my kind of game.

when you get this thing beat, you should check MWO out. These are huge lumbering Mechs... No side stepping is possible and it drives more like a big tank. If you can play AH then MWO should be easy. :)

Ahh no light mechs then? Only heavy mechs like the Madcat series?

There are light Mechs, and they're fast! But only in a straight line kind of way. You have a throttle and can steer the Mech right or left either with wasd or with for example a twisty stick or rudder rocker/pedals. The mouse/joystick controls and aims the torso and arms.
