Did the wife make ya move out of the house? :rofl :rofl
How's the project coming? We need and demand pictures!
-
Oh, it is going to be a while. I am designing my own fuel delivery and intake system, and some other tidbits as well.
I am shooting video as I progress and will have the video ready when the car is ready.
There are a few potential patents involved, which is why I am not releasing any prelim photos.
-
Thanks. Creativity isn't one of my assets, apparently it is one of yours.
Keep us updated. I want to see the results. Sounds like something special.
-
Skuzzy, which replica kit did you start with ..... Or by chance is this an original car?
-
Lone Star Classics. I wanted a car I could drive, which paid homage to the original Cobra. If it was an original, I would be terrified to get it on the road.
-
Looking forward to seing it done.
-
Me too!
I hope to start test driving around May.
Probably do paint next spring (2015).

That seat is going to be full of equipment while I run various tests.
I'll be spending a lot of time between Midland and Abilene on 20. :)
-
I saw a Cobra yesterday (a reproduction) and thought of you and your build. Glad to hear it is going well!

Is that what you told the wife? :D

She has no desire to ride in any convertible. She is terrified a rock would bounce over the windshield and split her head open. She goes through a lot of windshields. Two, so far, this year.
EDIT: She did say she would ride in it, if I buy her a helmet to wear, but only for short trips.

She went through four last year. She is a rock magnet. Darndest thing I have ever seen.

Seems only natural.

Skuzzy....sounds like the right time to give her a course in SA.

Oh...my initial thought was that she went through the window...I've got it now. At any rate that is still an impeccable record.

She should stop tailgating trucks. :devil

There is a big AC Cobra following here in Western Europe. Periodically during the warm months the owners get together and have a drive in in Boblingen at Meilenwerk. It's really cool to see 25 Cobra Replicas lined up! Last year I was present when the Meilenwerk staff blocked of the parking lot and let these guys do burnouts.
I'll get some video this year if I catch one of there drive in events.

We have an annual gathering in San Marcos, in Texas, where about 150 to 250 Cobras gather. It is quite a sight, and quite noisy too. :)
I think Texas has the largest concentration of Cobras in the world. Could be wrong, but it has to be close to the largest, if not the largest.

Music to my ears~
-
good luck with it...

I was in Vernon Texas back in the late 90s at summers last blast car show and cruise , a fellow in an original cobra came by looking for a friend of mine that wasn't there, his transmission shifter was hung up in fourth gear so I got it up on a jack and fixed it for him, my reward was to go and cruise it for a bit!
That car was the best all around fun car I've ever played in,, one of these days I'll have my own!

You could be wrong. I think India may have the largest concentration. But that's me ;)

And funnily enough, they are all cricket teams.

Hey Skuzzy, I was out with the old man today, and we headed to our mechanic(who is helping with the restoration) and he had had an amazing 1949 Jaguar XK120, black paint, red interior, it was amazing!
Also, what color are you planning for the Cobra?
:salute

Close Arlo.
I am going to paint it Lexus Frost White, which is a pearl white just a hint of blue tint in it.
The stripes will be the blue metallic from the BMW X5. I'll add a touch of black tint to the clear coat.
Flanking the blue stripes will be Mercedes silver pin stripes.
The interior has black carpet and the seats, from a Mini Cooper S, will be two toned. Dark gray inserts with black trim and gray piping. The door panels will receive a similar color trim.
The carpet is seamless and form fitted. Took me a while and some trial and error to get that one right.
I am still toying with some ideas for the dash layout and design.
Instead of using side wings to deflect the wind (they really do not work well), I am designing wings to shape the airflow around the cockpit and some other goodies to make the cockpit less work and more fun.

Is it possible to admire you and hate you at the same time, Skuzzy? :D

My thoughts exactly! :D

I remember the Cobra adds in Hot Rod and or Motor trend Mags. I want to say it listed for just shy six grand. Long time ago though.
-
Folks, if you have the time and a few bucks, you can build your own Cobra. Just gotta have a wife that understands and about $50K :D

And that is pretty darn accurate. My Wife gave me the kit as a birthday present. Then again, it also came with a card which talked about how happy she is going to be when I build her that 62 Corvette, after I finish mine. :)
-
She got the projects in the wrong order. ;)
-
Oh no, she wanted my car to be the guinea pig. Smart lady.

I though the 63 Stingray was the split window model.
Beautiful Olds you got there.

Ain't mine, mine doesn't have a engine or tires yet :P
Same color scheme however.
-
Yes, the 63 was the split window Vette and first generation of the C2. The 62 was the last of the C1 generation.
